About this role

Ready for your next leadership move?

South Otago is entering an exciting new stage of its development.

Our business across Balclutha, Milton and Clydevale has grown significantly, supported by a committed local team and strong connections with the rural communities we serve.

We are now establishing South Otago as a standalone VetSouth Hub, with dedicated local leadership to support its future. The appointment of our first South Otago Hub Manager is an important first step.

We’re looking for a commercially minded people leader who can help establish the new Hub, build on what is already working and shape how South Otago develops from here.

This is a senior leadership role with genuine breadth. You’ll lead through others, take ownership of Hub performance and work closely with clinical, operational and functional leaders to turn strategy into results.

What you will do

As Hub Manager, you'll provide overall leadership across our Balclutha, Milton and Clydevale clinics and be the key connection between the South Otago Hub, the wider VetSouth region and Comhla Group.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Hub leadership team.
  • Take ownership of the Hub’s commercial and financial performance.
  • Translate regional strategy into clear plans and measurable Hub outcomes.
  • Partner with clinical leaders to deliver strong people, client, clinical and business outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen services, improve performance and support sustainable growth.
  • Lead change and help establish South Otago as a strong, connected Hub.

What you will bring

You'll be a capable people leader who knows how to bring people with you while delivering strong business outcomes.

 You will have:

  • Proven leadership experience with accountability for people and business performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial capability.
  • A track record of developing leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Confidence leading change, improvement and growth.
  • Strong judgement, communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience in a multi-site, service-based, healthcare, veterinary, rural or agribusiness environment would be advantageous, but we’re more interested in your leadership capability and potential than your sector background.

Why VetSouth?

VetSouth was built on a simple belief: being rural shouldn’t mean compromising on quality.

We’re proudly NZ-owned, with nine clinics across Southland and South Otago, and part of the Comhla network, connecting us with more than 50 clinics across New Zealand and Australia.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. We’re ambitious about the future, committed to developing great leaders and passionate about creating teams where people can do their best work.

For our leaders, that means real opportunity to make a difference, locally, while drawing on the expertise, support and shared ambition of a much bigger network.

It’s a chance to lead a great team, shape how we work and help build the future of veterinary services in rural New Zealand.

Ready to take the next step?

If you're a people leader who enjoys building capable teams, improving business performance and creating opportunities for growth, this is a chance to take real ownership of a Hub at an important point in its development.

Apply before 4 October 2026 and help shape the next chapter for VetSouth South Otago.
