-Processes, embeds, and sections tissue for slides.
-Embeds control tissue and cuts control slides to maintain an adequate control library.
-Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, including oiling and cleaning microtomes, cleaning processors, and changing staining solutions.
-Ensures appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain employee safety at all times.
-Maintains case identification and ensures appropriate tracking throughout the entire process to ensure patient safety.

Summary: Responsible for preparing tissue specimens by processing, performing microtomy, and mounting on glass slides for microscopic examination and analysis.Does this position require Patient Care? No

Experience
Clinical or histology experience 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of basic histotechnique to include fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and routine staining.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
