Health Information Specialist
About this role
Overview
This role is part of the Health Information Services Department, a shared service of the Dartmouth Health health system that centers on the patient’s health (medical) record. The Health Information Specialist is responsible for ensuring health information is properly stored in a patient’s health record. The Health Info Specialist prepares and digitizes documents for scanning and indexing into the electronic health record. The Specialist reviews and evaluates the quality of scanned documents to preserve the integrity of the health record and ensures documentation is accurate, complete and meets legal, regulatory or accreditation requirements. Health Information Specialists also may perform introductory records management functions.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling confidential material.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
- Experience using a scanner and excellent keyboard skills preferred.
- Knowledge of Spanish helpful.
