What is Head of Retail Sales ? 

TPL Insurance is seeking a commercially driven and execution-focused Head of Retail Sales to lead and scale the company’s retail distribution business across direct, dealer, alliance, and corporate channels.

The role is responsible for driving topline growth, strengthening channel productivity, expanding strategic partnerships, improving sales governance, and building a high-performance sales culture aligned with the company’s growth ambitions. 

This position requires a strong leader with deep experience in retail insurance sales, automotive ecosystems, distribution management, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.

What does Head of Retail Sales do?

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Growth

• Deliver retail sales targets across motor and non-motor segments
• Drive growth across direct sales (B2C), dealer networks (B2B2C), and corporate retail channels
• Expand and strengthen relationships with automobile dealerships and OEM partners
• Develop strategic alliances, joint promotions, and ecosystem partnerships
• Improve sales productivity, conversion, retention, and channel profitability
• Identify new market opportunities and scalable retail distribution models

Channel & Relationship Management

• Manage nationwide dealer and retail sales operations
• Build strong relationships with key dealership principals, OEMs, and strategic partners
• Ensure consistent execution and service standards across all channels
• Collaborate closely with Marketing on campaigns, lead generation, and customer acquisition initiatives

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop regional and nationwide retail sales teams
• Build a performance-driven culture with strong accountability and execution discipline
• Strengthen succession planning, capability development, and talent retention within the sales function

Governance & Operational Excellence

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and company policies
• Work closely with Underwriting, Compliance, Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure smooth execution and risk management
• Monitor sales quality, portfolio mix, persistency, and operational KPIs

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Head of Retail Sales ?

• Graduate degree required; MBA preferred
• 18–22+ years of experience, with significant exposure to retail sales leadership
• Strong experience in insurance, banking, automotive, fintech, or consumer financial services preferred
• Proven track record of delivering aggressive sales growth and managing large-scale distribution networks
• Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management capability
• Experience managing dealer/OEM ecosystems will be highly preferred
