Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and organised Head of Laundry to join our team at Constance Prince Maurice, Mauritius. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all laundry operations for our luxury resort, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, quality, and efficiency. You will lead a dedicated team, manage resources effectively, and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering exceptional laundry services that support our guests' experience and uphold our organisation's reputation for excellence.

• Oversee all daily laundry operations, including washing, drying, pressing, and folding of linens and guest garments
• Lead, supervise, and motivate the laundry team, providing clear direction, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
• Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure all items meet our exacting specifications
• Manage inventory levels of linens, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock whilst minimising waste
• Maintain and monitor industrial laundry equipment, coordinating repairs and maintenance to minimise downtime
• Develop and implement efficient scheduling systems to meet operational demands and guest requirements
• Monitor and manage departmental budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
• Conduct regular staff induction and training programmes to ensure competency and consistency
• Liaise with other departments to understand specific laundry requirements and resolve any issues promptly
• Maintain detailed records of operations, including inventory, maintenance, and staff performance
• Implement and promote sustainable laundry practices to minimise environmental impact

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing laundry operations in a hospitality or large-scale commercial environment
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise and motivate teams effectively
• Strong knowledge of industrial laundry equipment, processes, and maintenance requirements
• Excellent organisational and time-keeping skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency in inventory management and stock control systems
• Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to laundry operations.
• Sound knowledge of chemical handling, storage, and safety protocols
• Experience in budget management and cost control
• Strong people skills and the ability to communicate clearly with team members and other departments
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges
• Desirable experience with sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly laundry practices
