Head of Finance

The Bermuda National Trust is seeking an experienced finance professional for the role of:

HEAD OF FINANCE

The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading the financial management of the Bermuda National Trust, ensuring the charity's finances are planned, managed and reported effectively to support informed decision-making and the long-term sustainability of the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role provides strategic financial leadership while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.   Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the Trust's financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
• Preparing financial reports and providing financial advice to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, Executive Committee and Council
• Monitoring cash flow, investments and financial performance to ensure the effective stewardship of funds
• Overseeing all accounting operations, financial controls, payroll, compensation & benefits, and compliance requirements including the annual audit
• Managing the Finance Department, including supervision and development of finance staff
• Ensuring the Trust meets all audit, regulatory and charity reporting obligations
• Working collaboratively across the organisation to support projects, special events and strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and be a member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda (CPA Bermuda) or an equivalent professional accounting body. They will have at least five years' post-qualification experience as a CPA, with strong financial management, analytical and leadership skills. Experience within the not-for-profit sector and knowledge of Canadian GAAP for not-for-profit organisations would be an asset.

The position will suit a strategic and hands-on finance leader who enjoys working in a varied environment and is committed to supporting the Bermuda National Trust's charitable mission. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, an excellent problem solver and a collaborative team member who can build strong relationships across the organisation. Flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend events will be required.
