About Us

Mint Source is a remote-first bridge that connects vibrant talent with international clients and agencies, enabling skilled individuals to showcase their expertise on a global stage.

Role Overview

Mint Source is recruiting a Head of Creative Operations to join a Canadian performance creative agency that produces high-volume static ads for DTC brands on Meta. The agency owns the creative strategy function for its clients: it reads what is earning spend inside each ad account, works out which variables are driving that performance, and turns those insights into new iterations, while testing new angles, personas, formats, and messaging to find opportunities beyond what has already worked. This role runs that function day to day. You will lead four to five strategists who cover roughly 30 to 40 brands and between 1,500 and 4,000 finished static ads a month, plus long-form copy for native ads, and you will own the operation that keeps it all moving: the review and sign-off cadence, the follow-through that turns decisions and client requests into finished work on time, and the working rhythm of the team itself. Strategic judgment matters here, and you will guide direction and review work for performance potential, but the center of the role is operational leadership. Success means the agency's current head of strategy can step back from day-to-day ownership of the function: the operation runs on schedule without them, and the team keeps finding winning ads on its own.

What You'll Do

  • Make sure strategic pivots, client requests, and commitments become briefs and finished ads on time, move new-client onboarding forward, and work with the Operations Manager to close gaps in ownership, missed execution, and delivery risk
  • Run the function's operating rhythm: weekly reviews of briefs, copy, finished ads, and account direction, strategy sign-offs for each of the 30 to 40 client accounts on a biweekly or monthly cadence, and biweekly portfolio analyses, so every strategist has clear priorities and every account has a current, approved plan
  • Manage and coach four to five strategists directly through weekly coaching and feedback sessions, raising the team's analytical thinking, briefing, copywriting, and decision-making across different capability levels and working styles, and building a team that operates independently without sacrificing quality
  • Contribute meaningfully to hiring, performance management, and termination decisions within the strategy team
  • Guide strategists on which messages, personas, formats, angles, and iterations to prioritize, and decide when to keep iterating on proven creative and when to open new strategic territory, keeping every call grounded in Meta ad-account data rather than personal preference
  • Review the team's work, approving, rejecting, or redirecting it based on its likelihood to perform. Other team members handle objective QA such as spelling and production errors, so your bar is copy, clarity, strategic thinking, and performance potential
  • Diagnose underperforming accounts, set clear corrective plans, and make sure the team is not leaning on bottom-of-funnel offers to produce results
  • Identify winning messages, formats, personas, and creative variables across the portfolio, apply those patterns thoughtfully across relevant accounts, and help the team separate real creative signals from shallow conclusions
  • Join client conversations when senior strategic guidance is needed, explain why the team is making specific moves, surface concerns and opportunities proactively, and give the Operations Manager the strategic context for biweekly client reporting, without becoming the day-to-day owner of client relationships
  • Step in hands-on each week for selected high-priority or struggling accounts, contributing briefs, copy, or account planning when senior support is needed, without becoming the default production strategist. Operate the agency's existing systems first and improve them over time

What We're Looking For

  • Experience leading operations. You have run the day-to-day operation of a team or agency: owning cadences and deadlines across many simultaneous accounts or projects, keeping follow-through tight, and making sure decisions turn into finished work on time. This is the core of the role
  • A real understanding of performance marketing and ad creative, with Meta as the platform you know best: you can read what an ad account is saying, follow a creative test, and hold your own in a conversation about why an ad is working
  • Experience leading and coaching an operations, strategy, performance marketing, copywriting, or creative team, and developing people with different levels of ability. In-house candidates need meaningful team-leadership experience, not an individual-contributor background alone
  • Enough judgment around static advertising and direct-response copy to review work with confidence, backed by a working knowledge of creative testing and account-level iteration
  • The ability to manage a large account portfolio and spot where senior attention will have the greatest impact
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ownership of outcomes. This role carries a high level of responsibility in a fast-moving agency. Nobody expects 14-hour days or treats constant overwork as a badge of honor, but some weeks will run past 40 hours when an account is struggling, an important deadline is close, or the team needs extra support. It will not suit someone looking for rigidly fixed hours or narrow ownership. It suits someone who is energized by high expectations and steps beyond the minimum when circumstances call for it
  • A plus: a background leading a strategy team that oversaw $500,000 USD or more per month in paid-social spend, or deep hands-on creative strategy experience
  • A plus: agency experience. Strongly preferred, not required

Key Performance Metrics (KPIs)

  • Delivery and quality: deliverables keep moving on time while creative and copy quality holds or improves, and the Operations Manager has the context to communicate meaningful strategic progress, so clients can see the agency is actively learning from their accounts and making informed strategic moves
  • Operating cadence held: account analyses, strategy approvals, and weekly reviews happen on schedule, and every strategist has clear priorities and consistent, useful feedback
  • Account health: every underperforming account carries a clear diagnosis and next action, and strategic pivots show up as finished work
  • Winner rate: the team's ability to find and develop winning ads, where a winner ranks among the top one to five ads in its campaign and captures substantial spend. The threshold varies by account, so this is a demonstrated trend, not a quota
  • 30/60/90-day ramp: by day 30, running the weekly review and coaching cadence on the agency's existing systems with the current head of strategy still in the loop; by day 60, the current head of strategy has stepped back from day-to-day ownership and reviews, analyses, approvals, and delivery run on schedule under you; by day 90, a demonstrable improvement in the team's winner rate across the portfolio

What You Get

  • Compensation starts at $170,000 USD per year, with real room above that for candidates who've led a team at this scale
  • A fully remote role on Eastern Time hours for candidates based in the US, Canada or the UK, reporting to agency leadership and working closely with the Operations Manager
  • Direct oversight of account direction across 30 to 40 brands, and strong influence over hiring, performance management, and termination decisions within the strategy team
  • A leadership seat where the mandate is to run an entire function and raise its quality, with the room to improve the systems you inherit
  • A team of four to five strategists to build into one that operates independently without sacrificing quality
