About this role

About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

ALSO is looking for a Global Logistics Specialist based in Taiwan to lead local import and export operations, support customs compliance, and serve as the on-the-ground logistics partner for our Taiwan supply chain activities. This role will also support global logistics projects, parcel shipment operations, and vendor management across the region.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple freight modes, and experienced navigating Taiwan customs and trade regulations. Experience with EV, micromobility, consumer electronics, hardware, or battery-related cargo is highly valuable. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment and wants to build scalable logistics processes from the ground up.

What You'll Do

  • Manage end-to-end import operations across global lanes (Asia, Europe, and the Americas), ensuring timely clearance and delivery

  • Coordinate with Taiwan customs brokers, freight forwarders, and vendors for transportation planning

  • Track and monitor all outbound and inbound shipments, proactively resolving delays, holds, or exceptions before they impact operations

  • Maintain and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Manage relationships with international freight forwarders across ocean, air, and couriers, evaluating carrier performance against cost, transit time, and reliability KPIs to drive continuous improvement

  • Partner with suppliers and internal procurement teams to align shipment readiness with production and inventory needs

  • Track purchase orders from booking through delivery, maintaining accurate records in the ERP system

  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders (supply chain, destination import team, 3PL warehouse, and fulfillment) on shipment status and ETA updates

  • Support HTS/CCC code classification for imported and exported goods under Taiwan's customs tariff schedule, monitor trade policy developments and export controls, and assist with customs audits, duty drawback, and bonded processes as needed

  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations for battery and EV-related cargo, applying IATA, IMDG, and DOT regulations for lithium-ion battery cargo (UN3480/UN3481), including DGR documentation, packaging requirements, and mode restrictions

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in global transportation, carrier, or freight forwarding

  • Solid knowledge of TW/US customs regulations and HTS classification

  • Hands-on experience coordinating with customs brokers and 3PL partners

  • Proficiency with TMS, ERP, or logistics visibility platforms

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent shipments and deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and supplier coordination

  • Preferred: Experience handling lithium battery cargo (UN3480/UN3481/UN3556) under IATA, IMDG, or DOT regulations is a strong plus

  • Preferred: Experience importing consumer electronics, e-bikes, micromobility, or EV products

  • Preferred: Exposure to global import lanes in Asia (China, Taiwan, Vietnam) and/or Europe
