About the Team

The London Valuation department lies at the heart of Bonhams UK business with long established clients and fiduciary contacts. It is one of the fastest moving and most dynamic areas in the business responsible for multi-million high level consignments and the long-term development of client relationships and business. The department works closely with its sister departments in Paris, New York and Los Angeles.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing valuations at clients’ homes, at Bonhams, and other premises while delivering high levels of client service
  • Producing multi-category valuations for sale, and formal appraisals for probate and insurance purposes
  • Working collaboratively with specialist departments across the business to finalise valuations and deliver consignments for sale
  • Effectively managing client relationships throughout the valuation process
  • Ensuring our formal valuations for probate and insurance meet the highest standard of research and production
  • Effectively managing client relationships throughout the valuations and sale process

  

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years auction house experience
  • We welcome candidates either with general valuation experience, or alternatively from a single specialist background
  • Candidates with general valuation background will be able to identify and value a broad range of fine and applied arts
  • Candidates from a single specialist background will possess an aptitude to expand their knowledge base and engage in multi-category valuation work
  • Extensive knowledge of the art market, including values and trends within the auction world
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use relevant systems and databases
  • A second language would be advantageous

  • An adaptable and personable approach, with the confidence to work across a variety of environments, from warehouses and salerooms to private residences and historic properties
  • A willingness to undertake additional responsibilities and duties as required by your Manager
