Ethiopia represents a critical market for our strategic expansion efforts in Africa.

We are looking for a highly skilled, experienced, and entrepreneurial-minded professional to join our team as General Manager in Ethiopia. The GM will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing our operations in Ethiopia, including overseeing key areas like market entry, construction, government relationships, and business growth.

What you will be responsible for:

• Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Develop and implement medium- and long-term strategic plans to achieve operational excellence and business growth in this region.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to create business strategies that address both local and international markets.
  • Ensure the company maintains its technological leadership and captures market share effectively.

• Strategic Business Development and Market Growth
  
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure high customer satisfaction, renew existing contracts, and cultivate new customer opportunities.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders (e.g., cloud service providers, large enterprise clients, government organizations).

• Government Relations and Compliance
  • Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and local authorities to secure permits, licenses, and ensure operational compliance.
  • Represent the company at key government meetings, events, and during negotiations with local authorities.
  • Monitor regulatory developments in Ethiopia, especially those impacting data center construction and IT operations, to proactively adapt the business strategy.

• Data Center Project Oversight
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of data center projects, including feasibility studies, planning, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet industry standards (e.g., Uptime Tier certification, ISO compliance).
  • Supervise operation and maintenance of the data centers to ensure high efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Regularly update the headquarters on project progress and provide contingency plans in case of delays or bottlenecks.

• Financial Management and Operational Oversight
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, including forecasting construction costs, operational expenses, and revenue projections.
  • Optimize resource allocation to ensure the financial health and sustainable growth of the Ethiopian operations.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to meet stringent operational standards and customer expectations.

• Team Leadership and Culture Building
  • Build a high-performing management team with clear accountability and motivation for achieving excellence.

How you will stand out:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• An MBA or equivalent management background is strongly preferred.
• At least 8-10 years of management experience in the data center, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, or related industries, with a minimum of 5 years in senior roles (e.g., GM, Operations Director, or Project Director).
• Extensive knowledge and experience in managing the full lifecycle of data center projects, from planning to operations, as well as familiarity with industrial standards (e.g., Uptime Tier Standards, ISO 27001, PUE optimization).
• Experience in emerging markets (especially in Africa) is a significant plus.
• Deep understanding of the data center industry and its trends, including key technologies (e.g., power supply systems, cooling solutions, network architecture) and evolving customer demands.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, hybrid IT solutions, storage, and edge computing technologies as they apply to data center operations.
• Proven ability to manage capital-intensive projects while ensuring a strong Return on Investment (ROI).
• Cryptocurrency industry background or management experience are preferred.
• Those who have connections with the local government of Ethiopia will be given priority.
