This is a 12 months fixed-term contract role (potential for contract extension or convert to permanent with good performance).
What will you do?
We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer with strong AWS and cloud application experience to support the development, enhancement and Day-2 operations of a government cloud platform.
The engineer will work across frontend, backend and AWS-integrated application components, supporting application teams in provisioning and managing workloads on AWS. The role involves both software development and hands-on technical troubleshooting across multiple environments, including SIT, UAT and Production.
The successful candidate should be comfortable investigating issues across the application stack, understanding AWS infrastructure and networking dependencies, and working with DevOps and infrastructure engineers to resolve end-to-end problems.
Full-Stack Application Development
- Develop, enhance and maintain frontend and backend components of the platform.
- Investigate and resolve application defects affecting portal workflows, resource provisioning and environment management.
- Develop and maintain backend APIs and application services.
- Implement validation, status tracking, error handling and workflow improvements.
- Troubleshoot frontend, backend and integration issues across SIT, UAT and Production environments.
- Support regression testing and end-to-end verification following application changes.
AWS & Cloud Integration
Work with AWS services and cloud integrations including:
- Amazon ECS
- Amazon EC2 / Auto Scaling
- Amazon S3
- Amazon RDS
- Amazon API Gateway
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon CloudFront
- Amazon Route 53 / Private Hosted Zones
- Amazon ECR
- AWS WAF

Investigate provisioning and connectivity issues involving AWS resources and application workloads.
Support application teams with cloud configuration requirements such as routing, whitelisting, endpoints, security groups, reverse proxies and workload connectivity.
Infrastructure-as-Code & CI/CD
- Work with existing Infrastructure-as-Code modules and provisioning workflows.
- Troubleshoot Terraform and infrastructure provisioning failures.
- Support enhancements to reusable infrastructure templates.
- Work with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Investigate pipeline failures and application deployment issues.
- Support container image management and vulnerability remediation.
- Work closely with DevOps engineers on changes that span application and infrastructure components.
Application & Platform Integration
Support integration and configuration involving:
- NGINX / reverse proxy routing
- REST APIs and API Gateway
- WebSocket connectivity
- Authentication and authorization middleware
- Singpass / CorpPass integration
- SMTP services
- SFTP
- Application networking
- Container-based workloads
- Microservices
- Cross-account AWS connectivity
The engineer should be comfortable tracing problems across multiple components rather than limiting troubleshooting to a single application layer.
Security & Vulnerability Remediation
- Investigate and remediate application and platform security findings.
- Support VAPT remediation activities.
- Address container and dependency vulnerabilities.
- Support NGINX, application dependency and container image upgrades.
- Implement security-related configuration changes such as WAF rules, CSP headers, IP restrictions and access controls.
- Work with security and infrastructure teams to assess findings and implement appropriate fixes.
Day-2 Support & Troubleshooting
- Handle incidents, bugs, service requests and technical enquiries.
- Perform root-cause investigation for application and provisioning failures.
- Troubleshoot issues across Development, SIT, UAT and Production environments.
- Support application onboarding and environment provisioning.
- Analyze logs and deployment results to identify failure points.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, DevOps and customer teams to resolve issues.
- Support production changes and verify successful deployment.
Essential
- Strong experience in full-stack software development.
- Experience developing and supporting modern web applications.
- Good knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React.
- Experience developing backend APIs and services.
- Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Good understanding of: REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, Authentication and authorization, Containers, Networking fundamentals, DNS, Reverse proxies, Load balancers, Security groups and firewall concepts (Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines; Ability to investigate problems using application, container and infrastructure logs; Experience supporting applications across SIT/UAT/Production environments)
Strongly Preferred
- Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
- GitLab CI/CD experience.
- Docker and Amazon ECS experience.
- NGINX configuration and troubleshooting.
- AWS networking experience, including VPC, VPC Endpoint, Route 53 and security groups.
- Experience with AWS API Gateway and Lambda.
- Experience with container vulnerability remediation and security scanning.
- Experience supporting cloud-native or microservices-based applications.
- Experience working with government cloud environments or security-controlled enterprise environments.
