Job Description

As an FPGA Design Engineer, you will join our Birmingham team to support our activities within the aerospace and advanced electronics sector

You will contribute to the development of FPGA-based solutions for control systems, focusing on motor drives and DSP applications. This role offers the opportunity to work across coding, debugging, and system-level integration within a regulated aerospace environment, supporting both new and existing product development.

  • Location: Birmingham
  • On Site: 3 days per week on-site
  • Clearance: Clearable
  • Experience Level: Mid to Senior (multiple positions available)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop FPGA designs using VHDL for DSP and control system applications
  • Implement motor control and motor drive control algorithms
  • Work with requirements management tools to ensure traceability and compliance
  • Perform debugging and validation at card level

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in FPGA development and VHDL coding
  • Experience working with DSP applications or signal processing
  • Knowledge of motor control systems and motor drive control
  • Experience with debugging at board/card level
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools and structured development processes

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience working within aerospace or regulated industries
  • Understanding of DO-254 or similar safety-critical design standards

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience developing control algorithms for motor systems
  • Ability to work from detailed specifications and implement designs independently
  • Experience balancing hands-on coding with higher-level system understanding
