The Role

The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) serves as a hands-on member of the technical team supporting the implementation of a data-driven operational intelligence platform built on Palantir Foundry and AIP. Working under the direction of an Echo/Deployment Strategist, you will help deliver a phased minimum viable product (MVP) that supports mission-critical decision-making for a federal government client.

FDEs execute assigned implementation tasks within established architecture and sprint plans, raise issues and blockers to their Deployment Strategist, and help ensure sprint deliverables meet operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of a data ontology and foundation that will underpin future predictive modeling capabilities
  • Contribute to a Workshop-based application (interactive scenario builder or operations dashboard with real-time insights) using Foundry’s Workshop/Slate application layer
  • Build and support natural-language querying capability over structured data, covering key business dimensions such as time, cost, quality, and context
  • Support ingestion of policy and reference documents into Foundry as searchable content
  • Implement rules-based logic and reusable business definitions anchored to the platform Ontology
  • Participate in agile sprint cycles, including planning, standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog grooming
  • Demonstrate working capabilities to government stakeholders
  • Coordinate with client stakeholders and platform project managers as directed by the Deployment Strategist
  • Deliver clear technical documentation and configuration notes to support handoff and future roadmap phases
  • Provide defect resolution, troubleshooting, and incremental improvements
  • Support bi-weekly progress reports and sprint status updates alongside the Deployment Strategist

Preferred Qualifications (Mid-Level Engineer)

  • Familiarity with Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, Workshop/Slate, and Ontology configuration
  • 3-5 years of software engineering, data engineering, or systems integration experience
  • Exposure to regulated or compliance-driven data domains is a plus
  • Experience with Python, TypeScript, or Java in a data platform or analytics environment
  • Familiarity with data governance practices in federal or public-sector data environments
  • Comfortable working with moderate independence across the build, test, and deployment lifecycle, escalating complex architecture decisions to senior engineering staff
