Footwear Designer II CTM - Converse

As the pace of the global consumer is rapidly changing all around the world, the Converse RPC looks to create inspiring products closer to the consumer. Deepening consumer connection and operating with speed, the GC (Greater China) RPC team aims to serve consumers with speed and specificity with a focus.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking Designer II specializing in Footwear Product Design, who will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team including design, product management, and development partners. This position is based in Shanghai, China. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in designing shoes and is passionate about creating innovative footwear collections and franchises that reflect authentic local stories and consumer expression. In this role, you will focus on crafting distinctive, highly desirable shoes by integrating design expertise with materials, trims, and details, ensuring each product resonates with Streetwear and Lifestyle consumers in the local market. A keen eye for detail and a drive to produce premium footwear are essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a hyperlocal narrative and deliver a comprehensive style vision that specifically connects with Streetwear and Lifestyle shoe enthusiasts in Greater China (GC).

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

This designer will work with their cross-functional partners to understand the needs of the consumer and create an inspiring product narrative using market trend and local cultural insights. They will create a vision for Footwear collections by telling unique hyper local stories that resonate with Streetwear and Lifestyle consumers. They will make world class product expressions using Graphic and Color Design in collaboration with Materials, Trim and Development experts. Most importantly, they will craft unique, highly sought after product that connects on a deeper level.

If this is you, you’ll be working with the Converse CTM team to design compelling Footwear products that bring energy to local markets.

Day-to-day tasks include consumer and trend research, project management, communicating design intent through presentations and mood boards, sketching and exploration, collaboration with other designers, design reviews, product CAD and tech pack creation.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be working with GC geography experts in insights, marketing, product, development and design. You will collaborate with functional experts and leadership in Color, Material, Graphic and Footwear and Apparel Product Design across various parts of the business.

WHAT YOU BRING

• BA/BFA/MA/MFA/associate’s degree in Product Design, graphic design, or related field preferred

• 5+ years relevant work experience in Product Design, Graphic Design, Color Design,

• Strong passion for research and gathering cultural and market insights

• Effective communicator and collaborator with cross-functional partners

• Proven ability to create concepts, iterate and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary product and creative team.

• Understanding and ability to concepts based on a holistic head-to-toe design expression inclusive of footwear and apparel

• Awareness of the Converse brand, its design ethos, and its cultural relevance

• Connection to contemporary art & design, sport and streetwear trends

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines

• Creates graphics that are Industry leading, trend right and that consistently incorporate    consumer/athlete insights through powerful storytelling, emotional connectivity and relevance

• Produces presentation materials in conjunction with design and category teams that effectively communicate the concept behind the line for internal and external audiences

• Proficient ability to apply and perform color and graphic design skills, including drawing/sketching, typography, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing, and scale, visual presentation development and layout that is supported by a portfolio of non-computer-based creative art and graphic design

• Use advanced design skills to create original graphic and/or textile designs that appropriately reflect Converse brand design ethos

• Computer literate using Mac platforms with a high digital design acumen in design-based software

• Experience with 3D and AI Design tools is not required, but is a plus
