FIELD SERVICES ENGINEER - ENTRY-LEVEL

(AUTOMATION, INFORMATION & OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS)

SUMMARY

The Field Services Engineer will be responsible to provide technical support of control system including setup, installation, startup, commissioning as well as post startup support.  The candidate must have a strong desire to gain DCS/PLC system experience (both hardware and software), troubleshooting experience, and a deep knowledge of computers with Microsoft Windows/Server operating systems.  This opportunity will also provide learning opportunities around virtual system architectures such as VMware and HyperV, bus technologies (Fieldbus, ASi, DeviceNet and ProfiBus), field instrumentation, wireless and 3rd party communications (serial or ethernet).  A general knowledge of industrial electrical and wiring practices is helpful.

The Field Service Engineer could support other hardware outside of DeltaV including, Open Enterprise Systems, ROC, field and plant wireless systems, PLC and instrument calibrations

RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Service Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Preventative Maintenance – Perform periodic reviews of the systems for Proconex service contract customers.  These reviews could be monthly, semi-annual or annual.  The scope of work is defined in the customer service agreement.  Work will be performed per the Preventative Maintenance SOP / checklist.  Report will be delivered within 5 day of the review.  Responsible to meet schedule and budget requirements. 
  • Demand Services – Small project work.  Typically, one day of service to three weeks of service.  Work scope will vary from system setup / build, upfront project activities, surveys, or small control / graphic modifications.
  • DeltaV Version Upgrades – Support the execution of the version upgrade of the DeltaV system.  This support includes development of the migration plan, migration of the DeltaV database and graphics, buildout of the DeltaV system and onsite support.  System platform could be physical machines or virtual machines (VRTX, VMware). Responsible to meet schedule and budget requirements. 
  • Project Services – Includes supporting the project teams in buildout of computers per design specifications, supporting customer factory acceptance testing, performing system installations, supporting site acceptances testing and supporting loop checkout, commissioning and startup. Responsible to meet schedule and budget requirements. 
  • Emergency Support
    • Provide after-hours support for our contract customers.  Scheduled on call 24/7 pager support.  Responsible to return a customer call within 15 minutes.  Perform remote diagnostic over the phone up to 30 minutes.  Onsite response, if needed, 4 hours. 
  • Other Activities
    • Develop / cultivate a relationship with your service contract customers to become a trust advisor. 
    • Sales and proposal support

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science or technical discipline.  Will consider an Associate's Degree or graduate of a relevant trade school program.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interface with customers, Proconex internal groups and Proconex management
