If you are a Field Service Engineer/Professional looking for an opportunity to grow and develop professionally, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in the Central Regional Office in Tinley Park, IL, as a Field Service Engineer (Ovation Advantage), you will be part of a team of customer support engineers responsible for working with customers and proposal teams to develop a comprehensive project scope and bill of material, managing the design, implementation, documentation and installation of custom applications. You will be diagnosing and resolving engineering challenges related to the installation, startup, and operation of moderately complex distributed control systems (DCS), subsystems, and specialized control equipment at customer sites.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Working with the Sales team and Customers to develop a comprehensive project scope for custom power and water applications
  • Conduct site walkdowns and develop cost estimates for retrofit engineering and installation projects
  • Develop technical specifications and coordinate with third-party vendors
  • Evaluate contractor bids for installation work
  • Manage and coordinate regional projects, including planning and scheduling activities to meet customer and project needs
  • Lead technical and project meetings, documenting outcomes clearly
  • Design, review, implement, and test control systems for power and water applications
  • Develop and maintain control system databases, logic, and operator interfaces
  • Support installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering support to customers and internal teams
  • Build and sustain strong, trust-based customer relationships through clear and professional verbal and written communication skills

Who You Are:

You understand the importance and interdependence of internal customer relationships.  You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities and you acquire data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related STEM degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Understanding basic networking and computer assembly/troubleshooting experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of a working power plant and all sub-systems
  • Be able to travel up to 50-75% of the time. The travel requirement will be seasonal
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
     

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • A working understanding of Ladder Logic, SAMA diagrams, and P&ID prints
  • Experience with DCS/PLC controls
  • 5+ years of control experience in the power and water/wastewater treatment industries
     

Our compensation philosophy is simple: We pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process. The total target comp range for this position is $82,620 - $105,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
