Job Description

As the Export Control Manager (ECM) for the Americas region, you will be part of a team responsible for facilitating export control compliance for Home Comfort Group (HC). Reporting to the HC Lead ECM for functional coordination, you will collectively act as the central point of contact for your assigned region on all matters related to export control and sanctions law.

Your primary responsibility is to support HC business activities in the Americas region regarding compliance with national and international regulations. In this capacity, you will identify, review, and escalate relevant cases, and serve as a crucial link between HC business and the Corporate Department for Export Control, Sanctions & Customs.

Your Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Operational Export Control Review and Management

  • End-to-End Management of Critical Business Transactions: You will identify and analyze business activities relevant to export control (e.g., due to red flags or sanctioned party list hits), independently stop them if necessary, and subsequently be responsible for implementing the ("Block" or "Release") and support compliance with all associated conditions ("guardrails").
  • Compliance Assessment of Business Activities: Review business activities against export control and sanctions law, with a special focus on U.S. regulations (EAR applicability, “U.S. nexus”).
  • Case Review Coordination: Coordinate the assessment of cases with the relevant expert functions and submit them for a final decision.

2. Process Management and Implementation

  • Implementation and Adaptation of Regulatory Processes: You are responsible for implementing the central process requirements (e.g. Central Directive Export Control) and guiding specific processes in the own area of responsibility where required to ensure seamless export control processes.
  • Communication and Policy Management: You will ensure the active dissemination and communication of all relevant instructions and policies regarding export control within your area of responsibility.

3. Support and Coordination

  • Advisory Support: Provide consulting on relevant topics such as goods classification and Sanctioned Party List screening.
  • Reporting and Escalation: In coordination with the Lead ECM, report and escalate relevant cases to the Corporate Department for Export Control, Sanctions & Customs.
  • Regular Reporting: Provide regular reports to Board Members on the current implementation status of regulatory requirements.
  • Awareness and Training: Support awareness and training measures in coordination with Corporate Department for Export Control, Sanctions & Customs.

 

Qualifications

Your Profile

  • Proven knowledge in the area of trade compliance, incl. export controls, sanctions, trade laws and relevant processes; IT skills and familiarity with relevant IT tools, such as ERP systems SAP, etc. are essential.
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in export control, customs, or trade compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of international and, in particular, U.S. export control and sanctions laws (EAR, OFAC).
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating complex international business transactions.
