About this role

The Drum is transforming from a traditional publishing company into a global media, events and intelligence business that connects the world's marketing leaders through journalism, experiences, insights and community. Events sit at the heart of that transformation, bringing our community together in person to celebrate, connect and share ideas that shape the future of marketing.

The US Event Producer plays a key role in growing and delivering The Drum's expanding portfolio of events across the US, from small- and large-scale conferences to awards, forums, round tables, and client events.

Based in the US (Miami), this role will include planning, production, and on-site management of The Drum's US-based conferences, awards, and events, working closely with colleagues in the UK to ensure consistency, creativity, and operational excellence across all regions.

This role requires proven experience delivering conferences and awards, with hands-on experience across logistics, production, programming, and on-site execution.

This is a hybrid role combining remote planning and coordination with on-site delivery at event times. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak planning and live event periods, plus travel to other areas in the US.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on producer who thrives on the details of execution and brings energy and drive to growing The Drum's presence in the US market.

This position offers the opportunity to be immersed in The Drum's growing US events business, collaborate with global teams, and be part of an innovative media brand that connects the world's marketing community.

Key responsibilities

US Events

  • Take a hands-on role in end-to-end delivery of The Drum's US-based awards, conferences, industry and client events — including planning, logistics, production, and on-site execution.
  • Lead the planning and execution of our awards, multi-day conferences, managing complex programs, speaker logistics, content schedules, production run sheets, and attendee journeys.
  • Manage the end-to-end awards process, from entries and judging to nominations and the live show, staying hands-on across the entire journey.
  • Develop strong relationships with local venues, suppliers, and production partners, ensuring all events meet The Drum's creative and operational standards.
  • Manage event timelines and budgets, to ensure smooth and financially successful delivery.

Global Collaboration

  • Work closely with the UK events team on planning, creative direction, and alignment with The Drum's global awards and festival calendar.
  • Opportunities to organize international activations, such as Cannes Lions, Advertising Week, and SXSW, coordinating on-site brand experiences and content sessions.
  • Contribute to global post-event reporting, sharing insights and recommendations to continuously improve performance.

Commercial & Client Focus

  • Collaborate with commercial, marketing, and partnerships teams to deliver sponsor and client activations, ensuring all contractual elements are fulfilled.
  • Support ticket sales, entry drives, and audience engagement initiatives for US awards.
  • Help to identify opportunities to grow The Drum's events business in the US through new partnerships or formats.

Strategy & Development

  • Share ideas and feedback to help inform The Drum's approach to US events.
  • Bring creative input to enhance the attendee experience and support The Drum's presence in the US market.
  • Support consistency and best practice across the event portfolio.
  • Help build awareness and relationships across the US marketing, advertising, and media industries.

Team Collaboration

  • Work with colleagues across marketing, content, video, and design to deliver cohesive, high-quality event experiences.
  • While US-based, work as an integrated member of The Drum's global events team, supporting the UK events team remotely / in person during key delivery periods and major events.
  • Communicate effectively across time zones, ensuring alignment with the UK events team and seamless handovers between markets.

Travel & Representation

  • Travel to other US cities (and if required internationally) to manage and deliver events.
  • Represent The Drum at key industry events and activations, building relationships with agencies, brands, and sponsors.

3–4+ years' experience in event organisation, with a strong focus on large-scale conferences, and additional experience delivering awards, and branded client events across in-person and digital formats.

  • A proven track record of delivering successful events that meet commercial and audience goals, with a strong commercial mindset.
  • Experience playing a hands-on role in event delivery, with exposure to budgets and on-site management.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, able to manage multiple complex projects under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinker who brings fresh ideas for event development, content, and audience engagement.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment — adaptable, solutions-oriented, and able to respond quickly to new opportunities.
  • Confident working autonomously while staying connected to a global team headquartered in the UK.
  • Culturally aware and collaborative, able to work effectively with international colleagues and clients.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience managing or supporting sponsor deliverables or branded activations.
  • Personable, approachable, and professional, with strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Resilient under pressure, with excellent problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer service and memorable guest experiences.
  • Comfortable supporting junior colleagues when needed, in a collaborative, team-first environment.
  • Comfortable using project management and communication tools such as Asana, Slack, and Salesforce (training can be provided).
