About this role

Overview

Within SSOE’s Tool Install division, we specialize in delivering, designing, and engineering of complex process equipment across semiconductor fabs and advanced manufacturing facilities. Our team is composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who excel across various disciplines. We pride ourselves on our cross-disciplinary approach, which allows us to understand and address our clients' needs more comprehensively than traditional, siloed methods. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly conceptualize, plan, and detail every aspect of design. Our in-house experts collaborate closely, optimizing and enhancing our work through multi-discipline strategy sessions. By leveraging cutting-edge techniques and state-of-the-art software, we deliver industry-leading technology and innovative solutions from day one.

SSOE is seeking a Structural Engineer to support complex tool install projects for advanced manufacturing facilities, with a focus on designing and integrating support systems for process equipment, subfab racks, lateral runs, and cleanroom modifications. In this role, you will develop practical structural solutions that align with equipment loads, anchor conditions, seismic requirements, and constructability constraints while coordinating closely with project managers, discipline leads, and other engineers. You will contribute from early design through construction administration, helping manage change, reduce field risk, and ensure safe, coordinated installation packages. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact technical assignments in a fast-paced, collaboration-driven environment.

AI and Innovation

At SSOE, we don’t just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you’ll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for tool installation support systems, including equipment frames, platforms, supports, anchors, bracing, and related cleanroom or subfab modifications.
  • Develop structural calculations and design packages that account for gravity, lateral, seismic, vibration, and equipment-specific loading conditions.
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, process, electrical, and other disciplines to ensure structural support solutions are fully integrated with tool hookup and facility interfaces.
  • Prepare and review drawings, details, specifications, and models for installation support systems from concept through construction issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and coordination sessions to resolve interface conflicts, evaluate options, and support project execution decisions.
  • Review vendor data, equipment loads, anchor requirements, and installation constraints to confirm structural scope alignment and support procurement and fabrication needs.
  • Support field investigations, site walks, and existing condition verification to inform design development and identify constructability or retrofit challenges.
  • Conduct QA/QC checks on calculations, models, drawings, and specifications to maintain design quality, consistency, and code compliance.
  • Incorporate safety, accessibility, maintainability, and constructability considerations into all phases of the design process.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly in written reports, meeting discussions, and coordination documents with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 1 to 3 years of structural engineering experience, preferably supporting tool install, industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • Working knowledge of structural design principles, load paths, connection design, and applicable building code and seismic concepts.
  • Ability to perform structural calculations and develop practical support solutions for equipment and facility interface conditions.
  • Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, architects, engineers, and designers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality through effective QA/QC practices.
  • Ability to support design through construction administration, including submittal review and field coordination.
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and contribute in a fast-paced project environment while supporting mentoring or peer review efforts as needed.
  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience, and any specialized licensure/certifications. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive components, and generous bonus opportunities.
  • Benefits: Includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401K retirement savings plan (with company matching), opportunities for professional development and training (including support for relevant licensure & certifications), and generous PTO & paid holidays.
