Position Overview

The Electronics Technician Maintenance II performs intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of electronic systems and components used in military, aviation, or industrial support environments. This role ensures operational reliability and mission readiness by diagnosing failures, replacing faulty parts, conducting functional tests, and maintaining accurate technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment including communications devices, control systems, sensors, displays, navigation systems, and power distribution assemblies.
  • Perform repairs on circuit boards, wiring harnesses, connectors, switches, relays, resistors, transformers, and electronic subassemblies.
  • Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, frequency counters, power meters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) and system-level functional tests.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and Technical Manuals (TMs) to perform corrective actions.

Installation & Integration

  • Install, modify, or integrate electronic components and subsystems according to technical specifications.
  • Connect, route, and terminate electrical wiring, cables, and fiber as required.
  • Ensure proper configuration and calibration of systems after installation or repair.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Record maintenance actions, parts usage, and diagnostics in required systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, MAXIMO, NALCOMIS, or contract-specific software).
  • Ensure all repairs follow OEM specifications, military standards, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate bench stock accountability and test equipment calibration requirements.
  • Support audits and compliance inspections through detailed technical recordkeeping.

Quality Assurance & Safety

  • Follow static protection procedures and safe handling of sensitive electronic devices.
  • Adhere to OSHA, environmental, and electrical safety protocols.
  • Maintain tool control and ensure proper storage of electronic components and hazardous materials.
  • Conduct quality checks to verify proper operation and safety of systems before returning equipment to service.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Assist senior technicians or engineers during complex troubleshooting efforts.
  • Provide guidance to junior technicians regarding diagnostic techniques and proper repair procedures.
  • Coordinate work with production control, supervisors, and supported units.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with electronic systems in a military, aviation, industrial, or DOD contractor environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic theory, analog/digital circuitry, troubleshooting techniques, and component-level repair.
  • Ability to use test equipment and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of basic electricity, circuit analysis, and electro-mechanical integration.
  • Must meet physical requirements to work in shop or field environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Military electronics background (e.g., Army 94-series, USAF avionics, Navy ET/AT).
  • Completion of formal electronics technical school or certification (e.g., CompTIA, IPC soldering, OEM equipment courses).
  • Experience with maintenance data systems such as GCSS-Army, MAXIMO, or NALCOMIS.
  • Prior experience in QA/QC or intermediate/DS-level maintenance.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25โ€“40 lbs and perform bench or field repairs.
  • Work in shop, warehouse, aircraft hangar, or outdoor environments depending on mission needs.
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety standards.
