Job Description

The Electrical Leadman leads the group of industrial electricians installing large-scale switchgear lines, cable tray pathways, and sophisticated wiring grids. This position bridges the electrical design models with physical field installation to achieve full code compliance and operational readiness. The Electrical Foreman is accountable for the internal electrical system installation, heavy equipment integration, and wiring within the modular PDC buildings. This role ensures the physical installation of switchgear, MCCs, and containment systems perfectly matches the electrical design and code requirements in the workshop and construction yard.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

  • Crew Leadership: Direct a team of industrial electricians and Electrical Leadmen, balancing crews across heavy equipment rigging, conduit bending, and terminal wiring tasks.
  • Equipment Rigging & Placement: Oversee the safe transport, anchoring, and structural alignment of heavy client-furnished or factory-purchased switchgear, MCCs, and UPS systems inside the building envelope.
  • Code & Schema Compliance: Verify that all cable tray routing, wire sizes, ground grid configurations, and panel connections adhere to the Electrical Designer's prints and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • As-Built Documentation: Work hand-in-hand with the Design Support Specialist to document complex field wire changes, terminal modifications, or conduit reroutes prior to testing in the construction yard.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience working as an industrial electrician, with a heavy focus on switchgear assembly or power plant infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge interpreting industrial electrical schematics, three-phase line diagrams, and wiring plans.
  • Proven leadership experience managing industrial electrical crews or sub-teams.

Supervisory Requirements

  • Direct a team of industrial electricians and Electrical Leadmen, balancing crews across heavy equipment rigging, conduit bending, and terminal wiring tasks.

Preferred Experience

  • Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • Prior experience executing factory testing sequences, ground fault loop checks, or megohmmeter (Megger) checks.

Success Measures

  • Total eradication of wiring defects or code clearance violations prior to final QC testing loops.
  • Safe, zero-incident rigging and structural placement of heavy, delicate electrical equipment.
  • Efficiency in documenting and passing field modification records back to the design support desks.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular work in confined spaces inside modular buildings or under heavy electrical cabinetry.
  • Continuous manual dexterity for pulling heavy conductor cables and making small-wire terminal connections.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks on ladders or around elevated electrical overhead containment trays.
