The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.

The Community Food Connection seeks to improve the nutritional status of low-income New Yorkers by providing food and funding to approximately 600 emergency food programs (food pantries and community kitchens; and facilitating and monitoring SNAP outreach services throughout the emergency food network, monitoring and managing SNAP outreach services provided by contracted vendors; and promoting food support benefits.

The Emergency Food Connection (CFC) is recruiting for two (2) Community Coordinators to function as Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) Coordinators who will:

- Provide food and funding to approximately 600 emergency food programs (food pantries and community kitchens).

- Facilitate and monitor SNAP outreach throughout the emergency food network

- Monitor and manage SNAP outreach services provided by contracted vendors promote food support benefits.

- Supervise EFAP Community Associates that are responsible for the monitoring and the evaluation of food pantries and community kitchens throughout NYC.

- Provide supervision and technical assistance to subordinate staff in procedures of program implementation and management; monitor the staff schedules and visits to food distribution sites to ensure compliance with program requirements and identify areas of training needs or specialized technical assistance based on statistical reports and observation of provider operations.

- Represent EFAP at meetings with community groups and disseminate relevant information to interested participants and prepare surveys, evaluations, reports, and summaries that detail NYC emergency food network feedback and activity.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
