About this role

Manulife is seeking a creative and highly organized Education Specialist who will support Canada Retirement’s Education and Engagement Programs.

This role is responsible for developing educational content and digital learning experiences that help members build financial knowledge, take action, and improve retirement readiness.

The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts, product owners, marketing partners, and cross-functional teams to create engaging written, visual, and video-based content. This includes short-form educational videos for digital channels, webinars, educational articles, emails, and learning modules.

This role reports to the Manager, Member Education and is expected to work closely with teams across the organization to support the education needs of Canada Retirement group plan members.

Position Responsibilities:

Content development

  • Create and maintain educational content that supports member engagement, financial literacy, and retirement readiness goals.

  • Write, edit, and update content for various channels, including webinars, videos, articles, emails, learning modules, presentations, and digital experiences.

  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear, simple, and engaging content for a broad audience.

  • Maintain content inventories and support regular content reviews and refreshes.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.

  • Track content status, approvals, and publication schedules.

  • Support program launches, campaigns, and ongoing education initiatives.

Video and digital learning experiences

  • Develop short-form educational videos and micro-learning experiences for digital channels.

  • Create video scripts, storyboards, and supporting visual assets.

  • Produce, edit, and publish educational video content.

  • Ensure educational experiences align with accessibility, brand, and regulatory standards.

  • Stay informed on emerging trends, tools, and best practices in digital learning and content creation.

Data-driven improvements

  • Use member feedback, research, and engagement data to identify content opportunities and areas for improvement.

  • Monitor content performance and engagement metrics.

  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative research to identify gaps, test messages, and refine content and channels.

  • Responsible for updates to member surveys and regular review of feedback.

  • Provide monthly reporting for educational programs.

Project management and cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with product owners, marketing, communications, compliance, and business partners to support education initiatives.

  • Participate in planning sessions, content reviews, and project meetings.

  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and work on cross-functional teams.

  • Consistently deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.

  • Facilitate meetings, maintain timelines, ensure regular communication, and provide updates on project timelines and results.

  • Comfortable presenting to small and large groups of stakeholders to clearly articulate program vision and tell the education story.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, Journalism, Business, or a related field.

  • 3–5+ years of experience in content development, education, communications, marketing, or a related role.

  • Experience creating written educational content for digital channels.

  • Experience creating or supporting the development of video content, e-learning, webinars, or other digital learning experiences.

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to simplify complex topics.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to identify and understand business problems, explore possible solutions, and recommend a clear path forward to support decision-making.

  • Comfortable learning new technologies and digital tools.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services, wealth management, retirement, or employee benefits.

  • Experience using video creation and editing tools such as Synthesia, Adobe Premiere or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with webinar platforms such as Microsoft Teams, WebEx, or Cvent.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and content strategy.

  • Experience with analytics and reporting tools.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between

$59,100.00 CAD - $98,500.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
