  • To plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions, and renovations.
  • To comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire, health and safety licensing and provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.
  • To continually monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel, and implement measures resulting in energy cost savings.
  • To manage the department, in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
  • Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritised and are dealt with in an efficient manner, by technically proficient and guest-friendly technicians
  • He/she ideally should be certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be familiar with the operations and priorities of all other hotel operating departments.
  • Advise other colleagues on Health & Safety rules and processes.
  • Performing related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in a luxury hotels & Resorts.
  • Relevant technical certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, or building maintenance are beneficial.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water supply, drainage, and mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of chillers, boilers, pumps, generators, AHUs, FCUs, BMS, elevators, and fire & life-safety systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Familiarity with energy management and utility monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of building automation/BMS and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Understanding of the high service standards expected in luxury hotels and resorts.
  • Ability to respond quickly to guest-room engineering complaints and emergencies.
  • Coordination with Housekeeping, Front Office, Security, F&B, and other hotel departments.
  • Ability to carry out maintenance work while minimizing disruption to guests.
  • Good understanding of hotel preventive-maintenance schedules and engineering logbooks.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety, fire safety, emergency procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Awareness of relevant local building, electrical, environmental, and fire-safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to remain calm during breakdowns and emergencies.
  • Attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
  • Good time management and ability to prioritize urgent maintenance requests.
  • Professional appearance and a guest-focused attitude.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
