Job Description:

Shift Time - Days- M-F w/ rotating weekends, 4 10 hour shifts (7AM - 5:30AM)

Registers blood donors, explains the screening process, and provides relevant information about health tests, eligibility, and nutrition. Accurately identifies donors throughout the donation process and performs phlebotomy to collect blood products. Provides post-donation care, monitors donors for reactions, and assists or notifies staff as needed. Assists in donor recruitment, encourages donations and rescheduling, and converts donors to apheresis when appropriate. Constructs and deconstructs mobile collection equipment and supports the safe operation of the bloodmobile. Receives, processes, stores, and distributes blood products and samples, ensuring proper labeling and investigating specimen or paperwork issues. Prepares or modifies blood products according to protocol, organizes and ships samples to testing labs, and labels and validates products post-testing. Loads automated analyzers, performs waived testing after training, and operates, maintains, and performs quality control on equipment. Meets production and distribution goals, prioritizes workload to meet requirements, and practices good inventory management throughout the donation process. Operates computer programs for registration, collection, production, labeling, storage, and shipping. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Technical skills and aptitudes related to the collection or laboratory procedures or processes performed in the department or work area assigned. [Required]

• Knowledge of FDA and AABB regulations/standards related to the blood product manufacturing process [Required]

• Ability to understand and meet targets and deadlines. Able to learn and assimilate new information while thinking methodically [Required]

• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form in English with patients, staff, and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner [Required]

• Ability to read text and numbers in English, with demonstrated ability to comprehend, measure, reason, match, problem solve, and exercise judgment under supervision [Required]

• Knowledge of human anatomy [Required]

• Excellent computer skills which include using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices. Ability to learn and apply computer-related applications and programs. Computer applications and programs include but are not limited to, Laboratory application systems such as BBCS-ABO Suite and Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook. [Required]

• Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within AdventHealth guidelines and applicable regulations [Required]

• Strong attention to details [Required]

• Customer service focus [Required]

• Ability to treat both internal and external customers with compassion at all times with the highest level of service. [Required]

• Medical Terminology [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 3+ experience in a donor center [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Driver's License (DL) [Required]

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) [Preferred]

• Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (CMLA) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$17.28 - $27.65
