Job Description

This is a hybrid position with 3 days a week in our Lake Forest, IL office.

 

Role Overview

The Director, Supply Chain Planning leads supply chain planning for one business unit and reports directly to the VP of Supply Planning. This role provides leadership across Supply Planning, Production Planning, Master Planning, and Scheduling, ensuring the business unit has clear plans, disciplined execution, and alignment across Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Customer Supply Chain.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead supply chain planning across one business unit, including Supply Planning, Production Planning, Master Planning, and Scheduling
  • Represent the Supply Chain to support the company’s strategic initiatives while successfully managing their normal responsibilities
  • Driving the organization towards KPI targets in Delivery, Inventory and Cost
  • Supporting SIOP process by escalating decision making up the organization to resolve cross-business conflicts and drive resolution of issues preventing the attainment of production plans
  • Manage, coach, and develop planning and scheduling leaders responsible for business unit execution
  • Ensure clear ownership, governance, and execution discipline across the business unit planning and scheduling teams
  • Lead others and extend influence beyond the Supply Chain Planning team

Communication

  • Communicate with multiple levels of the business, including the executive level
  • Present polished and concise data and recommendations with good decision quality
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment on key trade-offs, risks, and scenarios
  • Prepare executives with structured insights, recommendations, and decision options

Analytics/Decision Making

  • Analyzing capacity constraints and ensuring alignment of service, inventory and cost targets
  • Drive fact-based decision-making using standardized planning data and scenarios
  • Ensure decisions balance service, cost, inventory, and revenue objectives
  • Translate business strategy into planning priorities and decision criteria
  • Enable alignment between strategic plans, financial plans, and operational plans
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of Supply Chain processes and systems

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred. MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • 8+ years of progressive supply chain planning, operations, or manufacturing leadership experience in a multi-site or business unit environment.
  • 3+ years leading planning, scheduling, or operations teams with accountability for service, inventory, production execution, and planning performance.
  • Proven ability to lead within a business unit, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive alignment with Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Customer Supply Chain.
  • Strong understanding of Supply Planning, Production Planning, Master Planning, Scheduling, SIOP/IBP, capacity planning, inventory management, and ERP/APS systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business priorities into executable planning routines, governance cadence, and measurable performance improvement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data, frame trade-offs, and make clear recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Advanced analytical capability with proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and planning tools; SAP and Blue Yonder/JDA experience preferred.
  • High sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability with a track record of resolving service, cost, inventory, and execution gaps.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support business unit, plant, and leadership requirements.

  • Forecast-to-supply alignment and demonstrated closure of supply gaps to demand
  • Capacity constraint identification, escalation, and resolution cycle time
  • Planning data accuracy, system discipline, and adherence to planning governance cadence
  • Planning and scheduling team performance against agreed goals, development plans, and accountability expectations
  • SIOP/IBP input quality, decision readiness, and execution of approved planning decisions
  • Cost-to-serve and working capital impact tied to planning decisions
  • Cross-functional issue resolution effectiveness with Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Customer Supply Chain

 

 

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $170k-$200k + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
