Job Summary:

Provides strategic and operational leadership for Radiology services, including imaging and nursing functions, to ensure safe, high-quality, efficient, patient-centered care across assigned areas. Oversees associate leadership, financial performance, quality, safety, regulatory compliance, service excellence, workflow, and equipment planning.

Job Description:

Operations:


  • Directs and oversees a diverse team of managers and leaders of a system wide operational business unit
  • Designs and implements efficient, high-quality imaging services; identifies revenue enhancement opportunities; monitors expenses; benchmarks performance; promotes service excellence; and ensures effective communication across departments.
  • Oversee staff hiring and development, evaluate job performance, offer constructive feedback, discipline as necessary, and provide ongoing coaching to ensure activities are performed within department and SEH policy
  • Responsible for establishing short and long-range goals/objectives with key stakeholders through visioning which support the department, nursing and healthcare strategic plan.
  • Actively supports the nursing shared governance structure while promoting engagement of all Radiology associates by encouraging involvement in decision-making, supporting transparent communication, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with system-wide leaders in strategic planning, decision making, goal setting, communication and coordination of patient care/ services, and allocation of resources.
  • Directs and oversees development and implementation of policies and procedures utilizing current research, evidence-based clinical practice, professional clinical practice guidelines, national accreditation standards, and healthcare trends to develop evidence based protocols governing client/patient clinical care and activities.
  • Maintains effective system-wide communication and collaboration with various departments and disciplines including physicians, patients, visitors, associates and other stakeholders. 
  • Manages human resources to meet clinical and operational needs of patients.  Assures that models of care and clinical processes are consistent with any applicable Nurse Practice Act, professional standards, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Nursing Professional Practice Model, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Manages and provides supervision for contracted services to ensure quality, compliance, service expectations, and operational performance standards are met.

Financial Accountability:

  • Creates, implements, monitors, and controls designated operating and capital budgets.
  • B. Ensures budgetary compliance with defined goals, targets, and expected outcomes.
  • C. Interprets and analyzes financial, operational, and productivity data to assess performance, support capital and operational planning, and align business decisions with the system strategic plan.
  • D. Monitors and adjusts staffing levels to meet patient demand while ensuring appropriate productivity, quality, and service standards.
  • E. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly analysis, interpretation, and reporting of financial management tools and key performance indicators.
  • F. Prepares, presents, tracks, and reports on threshold capital and operational business plans to support financial stewardship, strategic growth, and organizational decision-making.

Patient Experience:

  • Develop, promote, and maintain professional relationships to ensure an environment conducive to customer service and high-quality patient care
  • Ensures ongoing monitoring of patient satisfaction scores and works within the service line to establish customer service initiatives and goals.
  •  Ensure patient experience best practices such as AIDET, leadership rounding, bedside reporting, managing up, etc. are being maintained within areas of responsibility.

Quality:

  •  Establishes and maintains an ongoing performance improvement program for all services with the business unit that aligns with the healthcare system performance improvement plan.
  • Monitors that all quality initiatives have a structured process in each area of responsibility to ensure meeting goals and sustaining results. 
  • Directs and provides oversight to maintain compliance to specific business unit regulatory and accreditation standards.

Professionalism:

  • Demonstrates management and leadership skills in directing operational activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Active in professional organizations on a local, regional and/or national level
  • Participates in hospital system activities to support department and healthcare system goals/initiatives. 
  • Participates in community benefit activities and outreach to enhance the visibility of the healthcare system and collaborative relationships.
  • Ensure personal program growth and development through education and/or certification

  • Coach, empower, and mentor managers/leaders/associates to support their professional and personal growth.
  • Develop and support an effective communication process throughout all levels of the organization both intra and interdepartmentally
  • Supports and promotes effective physician communication and engagement with staff
  • Oversees and evaluates the development and implementation of all associate engagement strategies and processes to achieve and/or sustain departmental/organizational goal
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Education, Credentials, Licenses:


  • Education and National Credentials:
    • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Care Administration (MHA), Health Informatics (MHI), or similar field approved by VP of Professional Services or must obtain A Master’s degree in aforementioned fields within 4 years of job placement.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BA), Health Care Administration (BHA), Health Science (BHS), or similar field approved by VP of Professional services.
    • Registered in one of the imaging areas reporting to this position. 
      • Nuclear Medicine - NMTCB or ARRT(NM)
      • Ultrasound – ARDMS or ARRT(US)
      • MRI – ARRT (MR) or AMRIT
      • X-Ray - ARRT (R)
      • CT – ARRT(CT)
  • State Licensure:
    • Kentucky:
      • KBMIRT Radiation Operators License (Radiography and/or Nuclear Medicine).
  • Indiana:
      • Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) License – Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or Radiologic Technologist

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Microsoft Office, ACR accreditation guidelines, Joint Commission Regulations as they apply to imaging services

Kind and Length of Experience: 

  • 3 years of progressive supervisory experience in a Radiology Department.
