SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Director will be a key member of the community engagement and impact team working in close partnership with Salvation Army officers, social services/program staff, Pathway of Hope, HH Care Management, DHQ Finance and CRD departments and other DHQ Departments as needed. The Director will be a passionate, experienced team player who is excited by the opportunity to create a roadmap for program quality initiatives and compliance for public and private funding.

 

The Director will support division-wide grants compliance, primarily focusing on large public funding and/or multi-Corps opportunities that include sustainability strategies. Provide research, editing, and reporting support as needed for grant applications.

 

The Director will work closely with the Director of Grants and Corporate Engagement, the Director of Community Programs and the DHQ finance department to provide support for the DHQ/THQ contract management process; but is solely responsible for compliance and reporting.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the oversight for contract and regulatory compliance and adherence to Salvation Army standards, with assisting in the social services reviews, program audits, licensing audits, etc. across the division.
  • Collaborate on the submission of documents, reports, etc. through the contract database for legal review and signature.
  • Assist with the development of outcome measurements, objectives and program impact that meet funding resources and quality assurance goals by being responsible for data management training for staff, data mining, collection and reporting/report development within the data management systems. Work with Development, Social Services, Finance, HR, and individual corps to prepare and submit required reports to funders as needed.
  • Act as the lead with the DHQ finance department as to ensure award agreements are executed for programming and accounting processing of awards.
  • Assist in the development and management of a division-wide research, recording, tracking, and reporting system to increase funding resources and grant compliance.
  • Collaboration with social service department and Corps leadership to develops and execute program service models that are attached to funding sources.
  • Monitor federal, state and local public funding websites and other sources for RFP announcements, work in coordination with DHQ Development on large foundation grant applications.
  • Prepares internal and external communications including presentations, reports and business correspondence in relation to grant/contract compliance and monitoring as needed.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with five years of experience in program development, grant writing, corporate relations and/or development; not-for-profit experience a plus.
  • Prior experience working in the field of work force development/employment training.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a complex environment, managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience with community-based program planning and implementation in the areas of work force development and working with populations impacted by concentrated poverty.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, project management and communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of best practices in programs and services, community engagement, communications, and volunteer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with targeted systems and organizations including a diverse population of community leaders and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability with outcome driven project project management.
  • Commitment to advocacy, diversity and serving the community.
  • A proficiency in Word and Excel, as well as experience with database software is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
  • A strong commitment to know and understand The Army’s history, mission, and structure, as well as its services, policies and procedures.
