About this role

The Role
The Director, Finance Transformation, will help shape the future of Finance at Moderna. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury, this role will lead the transformation agenda across Moderna’s Record-to-Analyze (R2A) value chain, spanning FP&A, Accounting, Tax, and other areas.

Sitting at the intersection of Finance, technology, data, and enterprise transformation, the Director will develop and drive an integrated roadmap to modernize how Finance operates—from planning, forecasting, and management reporting. The role will identify and deliver opportunities to simplify processes, modernize technology and data, deploy automation and AI, and build scalable capabilities that improve the speed, quality, control, and effectiveness of financial decision-making.

The Director will also lead the overall Finance transformation portfolio, providing the governance, prioritization, and cross-functional orchestration necessary to translate Finance priorities into measurable outcomes. This individual will lead critical initiatives from strategy and design through implementation, adoption, and value realization. Functional leaders will retain accountability for their respective processes, while this role will drive the integrated capabilities and transformation required to support them.

  • Lead selected high-priority, cross-functional Finance transformations from opportunity identification and design through implementation, adoption, and benefits realization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Finance cycle times, data quality, controls, scalability, user experience, and capacity for higher-value analysis and decision support.

Technology, Data, Analytics & AI

  • Shape the Finance technology, data, and analytics capabilities required to enable the transformation agenda, in close partnership with Digital and Finance stakeholders.
  • Own and advance Finance data and master-data capabilities, including dimensions, hierarchies, mappings, standards, governance, and integration across financial systems.
  • Develop scalable enterprise financial analytics, management P&L frameworks, and decision-support capabilities that improve visibility into performance, cost structure, productivity, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and implement practical opportunities for AI, intelligent automation, and self-service analytics across Finance workflows, reporting, forecasting, close, and analysis.
  • Partner with Digital to translate Finance requirements into scalable architecture, system enhancements, integrations, and solutions, with appropriate controls, data integrity, and sustainability.

Transformation Portfolio & Execution

  • Own the integrated Finance transformation portfolio and roadmap, providing visibility into priorities, sequencing, dependencies, resources, risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Monitor delivery and value realization across the transformation portfolio, proactively identifying issues and opportunities requiring leadership attention.

Change, Adoption & Capability Building

  • Develop and coordinate change, communication, training, and adoption strategies for major Finance transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with process owners and subject-matter experts to ensure new capabilities are embedded into day-to-day Finance operations and deliver intended business outcomes.
  • Establish measures of adoption and effectiveness and use feedback and data to continuously improve processes, tools, and ways of working.
