Job Description

The Director, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) provides strategic and operational leadership for FLINT's Electrical & Instrumentation business across construction, maintenance, turnarounds, shutdowns, and capital project delivery. This role holds overall accountability for the safety, profitability, quality, and growth of E&I operations while ensuring successful project execution and long-term business development.

As a senior leader, the Director, E&I works closely with Operations, Business Development, Project Management, Supply Chain, HSE, Finance, and clients to develop and execute strategies that position FLINT as a leader in industrial E&I services. The role is responsible for aligning operational performance with strategic growth objectives, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring industry-leading standards in safety, quality, and execution excellence.

What would you be doing?

Strategic Growth & Client Development

  • Develop and execute FLINT's E&I growth strategy, identifying new markets, service opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key clients, EPCMs, and industry stakeholders.
  • Support major pursuits, proposal development, and business development activities to drive sustainable revenue growth and market share expansion.

Operational Excellence & Project Delivery

  • Provide leadership and oversight for E&I construction, maintenance, turnaround, and capital project execution.
  • Support Area and District Managers in planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and project performance.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of projects that meet safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives across all operating regions.

Safety, Quality & Technical Leadership

  • Champion FLINT's safety culture and lead the implementation of HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance E&I Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safe Work Practices (SWPs), and technical standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, operational processes, and project execution practices.

People, Financial & Business Leadership

  • Lead workforce development, succession planning, technical competency, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations leaders to optimize business performance and support long-term organizational success.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Trade Certificate, Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in E&I, industrial construction, maintenance, or project delivery environments.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale construction, maintenance, turnaround, shutdown, and capital projects, including full project lifecycle oversight.
  • Proven success leading multi-district operations and developing growth strategies that drive revenue and market expansion.
  • Strong technical expertise in industrial electrical and instrumentation construction, maintenance, and project delivery practices.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial management, operational performance, and client relationship management.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills; industrial/oil and gas experience and established industry relationships are considered assets.
