Deputy Unit Manager - Education Loan

| Job Purpose | Drive compliant Education Loan sourcing and selling by monitoring conduct, documentation, communication, partner practices and closure of control gaps. |
| Duties and Responsibilities | • Translate product, KYC/AML and sales-process requirements into controls. • Review sales files, consent, source attribution, disclosures and evidence. • Monitor partner and frontline adherence. • Track complaints, mis-selling indicators and repeat breaches. • Conduct thematic and sample reviews. • Coordinate corrective action and training. • Maintain compliance MIS and escalate material concerns. • Own assigned portfolio or work queue. • Coach resources where assigned and manage day-to-day closure. • Provide structured MIS and improvement inputs. |
| Key Decisions / Dimensions | • Make day-to-day decisions within approved policy, process, budget and delegated authority. • Escalate policy deviations, material customer impact, fraud indicators, compliance concerns and unresolved cross-functional dependencies. • Numeric sanction, commercial, hiring and budget authorities are to be defined in the approved delegation matrix. Key interactions Internal Sales, Product, Credit/Underwriting, Risk, Operations, RCU/Fraud Control, Collections, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Technology, HR and COE, as relevant. External Students, co-applicants, universities, education consultants, DSAs, verification agencies, valuers, legal partners, technology/service partners and other approved vendors, as relevant. |
| Major Challenges | • Balancing growth, customer experience, turnaround time and portfolio quality. • Managing incomplete or inconsistent customer, academic, financial and collateral information. • Coordinating multiple stakeholders and technology/process dependencies across the loan lifecycle. • Maintaining control discipline during policy, market and process changes. |
| Required Qualifications and Experience | Graduate or postgraduate. Relevant functional experience; education-finance exposure preferred. Critical skills and knowledge • Sales compliance • KYC/AML awareness • Audit reviews • Root-cause analysis • Reporting • Training • Excel / presentation / business MIS capability appropriate to the role • High standards of integrity, customer confidentiality and control discipline |
