Dënezhu Knowledge Steward Permanent

Standard Hours Bi-Weekly:  75 

Start Date:  Immediately 

Salary:  Level 8 Step 1 ($98,026.50 annually)

Reporting to the Dënezhu Knowledge Manager, the incumbent contributes to stewarding and sharing Dënezhu Knowledge on behalf of the TH Government by conducting and supporting research, and facilitating Dënezhu knowledge revitalization within TH community The incumbent plans and coordinates Dënezhu Knowledge documentation, ensures ongoing physical care of and access to Dënezhu Knowledge, and assists with external research requests and projects. The incumbent facilitates the sharing of Dënezhu Knowledge through storytelling, art works, special events, and programming  

 

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Indigenous studies, anthropology, heritage/cultural resource management or a related field, along with one year of relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of education, training, skills and experience may be considered. 
  • Knowledge of the community and of First Nations culture, heritage, traditions and history. 
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary source research, and applying research ethics, protocols and documentation methods, including audio-visual recording and mapping. 
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with First Nation communities and Elders. 
  • Knowledge of inventory control and preservation of a variety of media, including digital recordings, paper records and photographs. 
  • Knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with policy and procedures. 
  • Knowledge and experience with project development and management. 
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills. 

 

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening. 
  • Class 5 Driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract, and willingness to take Class 4 license as required. 
  • Standard First Aid certification. 
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
