Position:    DCO Technician II

Position Summary

The Data Center Operations Technician II is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role serves as the technical authority on shift, leading incident response, executing critical maintenance procedures, and mentoring DCOT1s. The DCOT2 ensures uptime, operational discipline, and adherence to established SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs. 

Key Responsibilities 

Critical Infrastructure Monitoring & Operations 

• Independently monitor and operate: 

• UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, and generators 

• Cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, environmental controls) 

• Leak detection and environmental monitoring 

• Access control and CCTV systems 

• BMS/DCIM, and related monitoring platforms 

• Execute approved switching procedures and MOPs 

• Perform controlled breaker operations as authorized 

• Validate infrastructure redundancy and system health 

Incident Management 

• Serve as primary technical lead during shift incidents 

• Lead initial response for P1/P0 events 

• Assess risk and determine appropriate escalation paths 

• Coordinate bridge calls with internal teams and customers 

• Document incidents and contribute to root cause analysis 

• Participate in post-incident reviews and corrective action planning 

Change & Maintenance Oversight 

• Coordinate with and support Mission Critical Engineering to execute and oversee maintenance windows 

• Ensure change control compliance and documentation accuracy 

• Validate pre- and post-maintenance system state 

• Identify operational risk prior to change execution 

Security & Compliance 

• Investigate and respond to physical security events 

• Ensure proper badge access controls and monitoring 

• Support SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, etc. audit readiness 

• Maintain audit-ready documentation and operational logs 

• Enforce safety standards including NFPA 70E practices 

Mentorship & Shift Leadership 

• Provide guidance and training to DCOT1 

• Validate readiness for DCOT1 → DCOT2 promotion 

• Review shift logs and alarm handling for quality assurance 
• Act as shift technical authority in absence of Supervisor 

Qualifications & Experience 

• Strong understanding of electrical distribution and cooling systems 

• Experience with BMS, DCIM, and ticketing systems 

• Proven ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• NFPA 70E familiarity 
• OSHA safety training 
• Prior incident command or bridge leadership experience
