About this role

About Us

Gimlet is building the first multi-silicon neocloud designed for fast, efficient inference.

As AI workloads become more complex and new hardware architectures emerge, simply deploying more GPUs isn't enough. The challenge is making increasingly diverse compute work together.

Gimlet's platform intelligently partitions and routes workloads across heterogeneous hardware, enabling step-function improvements in performance and efficiency. Customers deploy through production-grade APIs without needing to think about hardware selection, placement, or optimization.

We work with foundation labs, hyperscalers, and AI-native companies to power production workloads at massive scale and help define the infrastructure layer for the future of AI. This gives our team access to systems research problems grounded in frontier models, cutting-edge production workloads, and emerging hardware architectures.

About the role

Gimlet Labs is seeking Data Center Technicians to support daily data center operations; hardware deployments, and site bring-ups across Gimlet's growing infrastructure footprint. These roles are hands-on positions for people closest to the physical systems that power Gimlet's AI infrastructure.

You will rack, stack, cable, label, validate, troubleshoot, repair, document, and maintain high density compute infrastructure. You will work closely with Site Managers, Deployment Leads, Network Deployment Engineers, Logistics, vendors, and remote-hands teams to keep capacity moving from planned to production-ready.

This role is well-suited for a hands-on technician who takes pride in physical quality, moves with urgency, documents clearly, and wants to grow with a fast-scaling infrastructure team.

What you will work on

  • Execute rack, stack, cable, labeling, hardware deployment, site expansion, and audit work for current and future Gimlet sites.

  • Troubleshoot servers, GPUs, storage, network links, optics, cabling, BMC/IPMI, firmware, and Linux-based systems.

  • Perform break/fix work, component swaps, RMA support, hands-on testing, ticket closure, and operational maintenance.

  • Maintain accurate asset records, rack elevations, cabling documentation, inventory records, spares tracking, and site notes.

  • Support network turn-ups and validation work with Network Deployment Engineers, including optics, cabling paths, patching, and interface checks.

  • Follow runbooks, checklists, safety practices, and data center procedures while helping improve them as the environment scales.

  • Communicate status, blockers, risks, and completion evidence clearly to site leadership and deployment teams.

  • Participate in maintenance windows, urgent site work, and on-call or escalation coverage as needed.

You may be a good fit if

  • You have hands-on experience as a data center technician, IT hardware technician, lab operations technician, field service technician, or infrastructure operations technician.

  • You are comfortable working with server hardware, racks, PDUs, copper and fiber cabling, optics, labels, cable management, and physical deployment standards.

  • You can troubleshoot methodically, document what you find, and close the loop with clear evidence.

  • You have basic Linux or command-line familiarity and are comfortable working with BMC/IPMI, firmware, BIOS, PXE, or hardware validation workflows.

  • You care about clean execution, safety, physical quality, and leaving a site better documented than you found it.

  • You are comfortable working in active data center environments and supporting occasional off-hours maintenance or urgent work.

Strong candidates may also have

  • Experience with GPU clusters, Liquid Cooling environments, HPC systems, AI infrastructure, high-density compute, or large server fleet operations.

  • Experience with fiber handling, structured cabling, optics, transceivers, and data center network patching.

  • Experience using ticketing systems, asset management tools, inventory systems, DCIM tools, or CMDBs.

  • Scripting experience in Bash, Python, or similar tools for validation, inventory, or operational checks.

  • Familiarity with colocation access processes, remote-hands workflows, security procedures, and site acceptance work.

Why join now?

Gimlet is at the very beginning of its journey, and that's what makes this moment special. Most AI infrastructure companies are focused on deploying more compute. We are focused on making increasingly diverse compute work together, and that ambition touches every part of how we build and run this company.

As an early member of the team, you will have significant ownership over your work, partner directly with a small group of highly capable people, and help shape not just what we build, but how we scale the company.

We value people who are excited to work across domains, take ownership of meaningful problems, and help define what Gimlet becomes over the next several years.

Agency Policy: Gimlet Labs does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruitment agencies or search firms. Any unsolicited resumes submitted without a signed agreement will be considered the property of Gimlet Labs, and no fees will be paid.
