About this role

Knoxville Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Critical Home Repair Program Manager. This role works independently to oversee the rehabilitation of homes for income-qualified seniors, veterans, and disabled homeowners across Knox County. The CHR manager handles all homeowner pre-qualifications, schedules contractors, closes out each project, and coordinates with community partners. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Application ManagementFacilitate the intake process by receiving and processing repair applications from homeowners ensuring that data entry is accurate and all required paperwork is completed for grant requirements. 
  • Homeowner Communication: Engage with homeowners by phone and in person to clarify qualifying information, address inquiries, and schedule home visits for assessment, consultation, and inspections.  
  • Project Coordination: Manage multiple repair projects simultaneously, maintain subcontractor correspondence, and nurture community partnerships to ensure efficient and timely completion of repair projects. 
  • Home Visits: Conduct in-home assessments to evaluate repair needs, discuss project scopes, qualify homeowners, and establish timelines that align with both the homeowner and contractors. 
  • Grant Compliance: Oversee the implementation of the CHR Program ensuring that supporting documentation and project timelines meet the current grant requirements.  
  • File and Data Management: Maintain all homeowner documents and protect confidentiality of records. Track incoming program referrals captured through email, phone, and community partners.  
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterlyand yearly reports to grantors and KHFH Board Members tracking the success of the CHR program. 
  • Research: Stay up-to-date on Fair Housing, HUD Guidelines, Knox Co. affordable housing resourcesFunder updates, and issues pertaining to seniors “aging in place”  
  • Professional Development: Seek opportunities to grow by attending in-state and out-of-state training courses and conferences to better develop this role. 
  • Department Support: Cross collaborationconsensus building in department decision makingagency and community participationFamily Services committee participation 
  • Community Partnerships: Become familiar with HELOC and other small loan productswork with community partners offerinthese products to refer suited applicants, be familiar with other repair services in the community for referral and collaboration purposes. 
  • Survey Administration: Possible role growth to administer follow up surveys 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social science related area, including, but not limited to, Sociology, Social Work, or Psychology and/or equivalent practical experience working in affordable housing serving vulnerable communities 
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations with sensitivity to culture, race, gender, age, ability, ethnicity, and socio-economic status 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate across departments and with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Ability to work independently to consistently meet grant deadlines and program goals 
  • Priority for building and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, contractors, funders, and homeowners 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with visiting homeowner residences to offer clear, patient, and respectful assistance with program application 
  • Ability to manage detailed information, homeowner files, and maintain confidentiality 
  • Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Regular, predictable attendance required 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong ability to remain adaptable and resourceful with the willingness to wear multiple hats as the program evolves 
  • Proven experience working on affordable housing initiatives 
  • Ability to creatively solve problems by responding instead of reacting 
  • Passion for community development and for aiding underserved communities 
  • Familiar with some sort of construction or repair processes ideal but training can be provided
