Position Summary

Oversee and manage life cycles of information and data, critical to the Police Department’s mission and services to the campus community; apply advanced analyst skills to ensure the quality, accuracy and completeness of data prepared for review and distribution; perform technical mapping and data processing tasks; prepare reports with the goal of increasing crime awareness, developing patterns/trends and documenting crime data for Department and University purposes.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages Crime Analysis
    • Conducts quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze data.
    • Oversees the development of computerized databases and applications to organize data and intelligence.
    • Conducts complex and advanced research and strategic crime analysis to assess criminal activity, threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Proactively collects, analyzes, interprets and prepares police data to evaluate staffing deployment, responses and identify crime hot spots, quality of life issues, traffic issues, internal police operations, problem solving, and the evaluation of police efforts.
    • Prepares reports, charts and maps to illustrate and clarify crime data.
    • Compiles weekly and monthly crime comparison report.
    • Completes analysis and reports, as required by outside agencies and/or the University.

  • Compiles/Disseminates Statistical and Informational Data
    • Compiles racial profiling data and submits annual report to State of Missouri and quarterly reports to Chief of Police.
    • Compiles and distributes weekly Directed Patrols.
    • Administers department Emergency Email Notification system.
    • Posts/distributes Crime Alerts and Advisories.
    • Analyzes crime data for Hot Spot reports.

  • University Clery Compliance Reporting
    • Serves as Campus Security Survey Administrator for Dept. of Education Campus Safety Act (Clery) compliance.
    • Codes reports and compiles statistical data of WUPD, creates Clery data entry for Danforth and Medical campuses for annual posting to DOE website.
    • Member of University Clery Act Compliance Team.
    • Works with St. Louis area law enforcement agencies obtaining crime data for crimes impacting university students, staff and faculty as well as university properties.

  • Develops investigative leads via analysis of digital surveillance video and generates supplemental police reports summarizing findings.
  • Provides support to the St. Louis Fusion Center and Missouri Information Analysis Center. Provides support to local, state, or regional law enforcement partners by performing intelligence services such as crime pattern, association, telephone data analysis, and financial analysis. Creates intelligence reports, briefs, threat assessments, and other intelligence products to aid in the prevention and deterrence of crime, including terrorism.
  • Assists in the development of computerized databases to organize information and intelligence. Oversees the development and maintenance of systems that collect, collate, retrieve, and disseminate information. Participates in departmental testing and acquisition of investigative, intelligence, and analytical software.
  • Supports the Chief of Police and the department’s mission by maximizing the analytical functions of the department. Assists in planning by obtaining and disseminating important information and intelligence. Prepares materials to assist in allocating resources; developing budget and resource requests; and preparing departmental reports, and investigative briefings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
