Are you an experienced Cook looking for a rewarding weekend role where your skills make a real difference?

Patcham Nursing Home is looking for a confident and experienced Cook to take responsibility for our weekend catering service.

You will use your cooking skills to prepare fresh, nutritious, home-style meals for our residents, supporting their dietary needs, preferences and wellbeing.

We are a 30-bed family-run nursing home in Brighton, where food is an important part of daily life. Our kitchen team helps create comfort, routine and a true sense of home for our residents.

About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced Cook who is confident working independently and understands the importance of providing high-quality meals in a care environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Preparing and cooking fresh breakfasts, lunches and light evening meals
• Providing varied meal choices, desserts and home baking
• Catering for residents, visitors and staff
• Supporting individual dietary requirements and modified diets
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
• Creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for residents

Experience & Requirements

Essential:

✔ Previous professional Cook experience
✔ Strong knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards
✔ Experience preparing meals independently
✔ Understanding of dietary requirements and modified diets- IDDSI 
✔ Ability to manage weekend kitchen responsibilities confidently

Desirable:

• Experience working in a care home, healthcare or similar catering environment

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes pride in their cooking and understands the positive impact good food has on residents’ quality of life.
