ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook balanced lunches for youth.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Health Services food safety regulations.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and maintain a clean, sanitary workspace.
  • Assist in portioning, packaging, and distributing lunches to youth.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Maintain records related to food preparation, allergies, and dietary restrictions.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students and staff.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Principal.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous cooking or food service experience is an asset.
  • Food Safety Certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start date.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow safety protocols.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.



Other Requirement

  • Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid Class five (5) driver’s license is an asset.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.



WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week, for the 2026/27 School Year.
  • Work is primarily performed in a school kitchen and dining environment.
  • Must safely operate kitchen equipment and follow food safety procedures.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

In accordance with MCFN hiring practices, this position will be posted internally for a minimum of fourteen (14) days to provide qualified MCFN Members and internal candidates with the opportunity to apply .
