Scope of Position 

As a Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC's business through the designing of advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge as you work on larger and moderately more complex projects.  

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Controls Design & Programming: Design and program building automation systems, site-specific configurations of control systems, and control algorithms.  

  • Standards & Compliance: Adhere to project requirements, company standards, and customer design standards in programming and implementation.  

  • Technical Documentation: Create clear design documents containing technical information for project teams, and document/communicate all building automation system designs and revisions.  

  • Interface Development: Develop and test graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems prior to implementation.  

  • Testing & Support: Support functional testing for building systems and provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customer needs are met.  

  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or technical discipline; OR  

  • Associate degree with 2+ years of experience designing, programming, or field-testing commercial HVAC and control systems; OR  

  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of experience designing, programming, or field-testing commercial HVAC and control systems.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Construction discipline.  

  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, Test and Balance (TAB), or related industry disciplines.  

  • Working knowledge of primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools (Automated Logic suites preferred).  

  • Working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.  

  • Experience with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2).  

  • Experience with Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio, or similar drafting/diagramming software.  

  • Ability to understand written sequences of operations and diagrammatic depictions of control systems.  

  • Ability to translate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.  

  • Physical ability to climb ladders or use lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and lift items up to 50 lbs. 

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
