Consultant Opportunities in New Zealand with Pulse Doctors
About this role
UK/IRE-trained specialists: considering a move to New Zealand?
I'm building a talent pool of UK/Irish doctors who hold a CCT/CCST and are open to relocating to New Zealand, across a range of specialties. We're working with Health New Zealand across both the North and South Islands, so there's a wide choice of locations, from major cities to regional communities and we're welcoming applications from all Medical and Psychiatry Specialties.
Why Choose New Zealand?
- Exceptional lifestyle — known as the 'Land of the Long White Cloud', New Zealand offers majestic landscapes and beautiful coastlines across the North Island, South Island and Stewart Island, with plenty to explore
- Work/life balance — many of the Consultants we've placed in New Zealand tell us the flexibility and professional fulfilment is hard to beat
- Choose your own timeframe — come on a fixed-term contract (12 months minimum) to see how you like it, or make the move permanent from the outset
- Simple relocation process — compared to other countries, the pathway to living and working in New Zealand is relatively straightforward, and Health New Zealand's Immigration Service provides free expert guidance on visa applications
- Fast-track residency options — most clinical roles sit on Tier 1 of New Zealand's Green List.
- Guided, simple application process — Health New Zealand runs a dedicated process for internationally trained candidates, so you're supported every step of the way
- Broadly comparable earnings, better tax position — Consultant base salaries in New Zealand are broadly on par with UK equivalents, and combined with a more favourable tax system, many Consultants find they keep more of what they earn
What's on offer
- Salary: The average total salary package for a senior doctor is around NZ$343,500, which is roughly £149,000. This includes on-call, overtime, superannuation and allowances. Base salaries for Medical Specialists range from NZ$185K to NZ$267K, with allowances on top that vary by location and service
- CME and indemnity: an annual CME allowance of NZ$16,000, reimbursement of registration and practising certificate fees, and professional indemnity covered by Health New Zealand
- Leave: 6 weeks' annual leave and 12 paid public holidays
- Residency: Senior Medical Officers are on Tier 1 of the Green List, so you can apply for residency before you arrive
What I can do:
- Talk through the market, roles and timelines in confidence
- Explain the registration process step by step
- Match you with opportunities as they arise
No commitment, just a conversation about whether it could work for you.
