The Manager of Community Site Clinical Research Operations, is primarily responsible for setting direction and executing scalable, sustainable research management practices for designated oncology research programs across community-based sites. These research programs may include industry-sponsored trials, multi-site studies, and select investigator-initiated trials appropriate for the community setting.

 

Reporting to the Integration Director of Clinical Trials Coordination, this position oversees a clinical research team embedded at our community oncology locations, supporting programs such as Breast Oncology, Genitourinary Medical Oncology, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Sarcoma, and other specialized oncology areas.

 

The Community Site Manager works in close partnership with site and central teams to ensure research activities are effectively integrated into clinical operations, support patient access to trials, and align with institutional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee study startup at community sites, working closely with central teams to move studies from feasibility through activation.
  • Ensure research protocols are carried out smoothly across the full study lifecycle, from feasibility to closeout.
  • Support integration of research activities into everyday clinical workflows to minimize disruption to patient care.
  • Ensure adequate participant coverage and engagement across community sites by monitoring enrollment capacity, supporting recruitment and retention strategies, and proactively addressing barriers to participant access and study participation.
  • Maintain appropriate research staff coverage across community locations by forecasting resource needs, coordinating cross-site support, managing workload distribution, and developing contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted study conduct during staff absences, turnover, or periods of increased demand.
  • Manage and support site-based research staff (coordinators and data roles) to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community providers, site leadership, and external partners (e.g., sponsors, CROs).
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures, promoting consistency across locations and alignment with clinical trial coordination.
  • Plan staffing and support hiring, onboarding, and development of research staff at community locations.
  • Monitor performance, identify issues, and implement improvements to site operations, quality, and efficiency.
  • Track and report key metrics (e.g., startup timelines, enrollment, data quality) and ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional requirements.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification or experience
  • 4 years’ experience in the conduct of interventional, treatment, and/or FDA-regulated clinical trials, preferably oncology trials
  • At least 2 years’ experience directly or indirectly managing personnel and training team members
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, GCP guidelines, and other applicable federal regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Experience working with EHR systems
  • Experience working with clinical trial management system
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated track record of hiring, training, and mentoring a team of clinical research coordinators.
  • Clinical research-related certification preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $99,486 to $157,227, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
