šĀ About the RoleĀ
As theĀ Community-Based Education Instructor you'll beĀ responsible forĀ facilitatingĀ meaningful educational experiences for adults in a supportive and engaging environment. This role involves working collaboratively with individuals to promote personal growth, independence, and community engagement through various activities and outings. TheĀ instructorĀ will ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all participants while fostering positive relationships and communication.Ā
š Qualifications
- BachelorsāĀ degree in field related to the field of special education or equivalent experience.Ā Ā Ā
- Good written and spoken communication, publicĀ relations,Ā andĀ problem-solvingĀ skills.Ā
- Able to use computer programs and other software related toĀ theĀ classroom.Ā Ā
- Management and administrative skillsĀ toĀ organize and executeĀ programs.Ā Ā
- Consistently reliable and dependable.Ā
- Must be able to drive 12-14 passengerĀ vansĀ under the WOW insurance requirements.Ā Ā
š± What Youāll Do
š Health, Safety, and Record KeepingĀ
- Assure the health, safety, and welfare of individualsĀ at all timesĀ at The WOW Center and during community trips.Ā
- MaintainĀ accurateĀ and up-to-date records for all individuals in the program, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.Ā
- Complete required documentation including quarterly and annual reports, wellness assessments, and grant-related paperwork inĀ a timelyĀ andĀ accurateĀ manner.Ā
- Ensure all documentation meets internal standards and external compliance requirements.Ā
š«Ā Classroom Environment and Instructional PlanningĀ
- Establish a positive classroom environment and routines thatĀ facilitateĀ learning and foster interpersonal relationships.Ā
- Develop and implement instructional plans to teach knowledge and skills aimed at promoting higher levels of independence in participantsā households and communities.Ā
- Assess individual needs and provide guidance toĀ facilitateĀ participation in program activities, tailoring approaches to fit various group settings (both one-on-one and group).Ā

šĀ Activity Development and Community EngagementĀ
- Create pre- and post-trip activities that enhance communication, emotional expression, physical and cognitive skills, self-awareness, and personal growth.Ā
- Collaborate withĀ yourĀ classroomĀ partnerĀ to create a monthly calendar of community outings and activities, ensuring a diverse range of options that align with participants' interests.Ā
- Research andĀ identifyĀ new locations for community field trips, negotiating pricing andĀ logisticsĀ as needed.Ā

- Ensure individual tracking sheets are updated to matchĀ individualsāĀ progressĀ in their homerooms.Ā Ā

- Drive individuals to various community locations, ensuring safe and comfortable transportation.Ā
- Maintain mileage and necessary documentation for transportation, ensuring all trips are logged accurately.Ā

š¤ Collaboration and CommunicationĀ
- Collaborate with otherĀ The WOWĀ CenterĀ employees to execute special activities and events throughout the year.Ā
- Provide regular feedback to social services staffĀ regardingĀ participantsā progress, behavioral health, and safety concerns.Ā
- Create and distribute monthly activity calendars, highlighting upcoming outings and events.Ā
- Facilitate discussions with participantsĀ regardingĀ their choices for upcoming activities and outings each month.Ā
- Prepare and send memos to familiesĀ regardingĀ upcoming activities, participant progress, and any relevant updates.Ā
