Job Details:

Purpose

Assist the ARL Machine Ship with the specialized machining of complex and challenging components.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and error-free operation of Hurco CNC Milling Machines.

  • Measure, adjust and maintain close tolerance components using supporting machining processes, such as surface grinding, Manual Turning, and Manual Milling.

  • Demonstrate mastery of tooling selection and operation for a wide variety of challenging materials such as Nickel Based Super Alloys and high-performance Polymers, and Tool Steels.

  • Preventative diagnosis and replacement of routine wear items, such as detecting leaks and replacing seals and protective way guarding to ensure the integrity of the Hurco, Mori Seiki, and Mazak CNC machines.

  • Proactively participating in the improvement and innovation of machining processes, seeking new methods for efficient component fabrication.

  • Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • HS or GED.

  • Seven or more years of related experience including extensive experience measuring and maintaining tight tolerance components in a wide variety or materials using multiple machine types and tooling.

  • Ability to design and fabricate custom cutting tools for CNC Machine operations.

  • Ability to design and fabricate custom fixturing for both CNC milling and turning operations.

  • Demonstrated eagerness to develop skills in mathematical, mechanical, and computer-based applications for machining.

  • Extensive experience with CNC Milling Machines, Hurco brand preferred.

  • Mastery level knowledge and implementation of CAD/CAM prog4ramming and design with preference towards MasterCam Mill/Lathe/Wire.

  • Ability work independently and manage multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting 3D CAD models, geometric dimensioning, tolerancing.

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Machine Tool Technology or equivalent trade specific Associates Degree and blueprint interpretation.
  • More than 7 years of experience with CNC Milling Machines, Hurco.
  • Expertise in very tight tolerance industries, such as tool and die.
  • Experience with cost analysis to estimate time, material cost and tooling cost.
  • Extensive experience working with hardened metal materials such as tool steels.
  • Familiarity with modern machining techniques, such as high-speed milling tool paths and advanced turning techniques.
  • Experience with supervisory and training positions to help train new or less experienced staff members.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting other machinists with machine upkeep and organization to maintain a streamlined and efficient shop and prevent down time.
  • Demonstrated experience creating a new database to track and manage consumable and special tooling to support machine shop tooling needs.
  • Demonstrated experience initiating and structuring a tool crib to centralize and manage the inventory of necessary cutting tools for machining work, such as carbide end mills, drills, taps, indexable tooling, and inserts.
  • Demonstrated experience creation of a supportive inventory of CAT 40 tool holding and collet systems to support the replacement and spare parts to keep CNC mill operation continuous.
  • Demonstrated experience creating storage, access, and inventory systems for previously mentioned tooling.
  • Demonstrated experience with utilization, calibration and mastery of modern measuring instruments capable of +/- 0.00005 inch accuracy.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • General neatness proclivity to keep work space tidy and organized.
  • A collaborative and patient ability to manage and train others.

Salary Range

$54,000-$64,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
