You'll begin as a Support Aide, gaining hands-on experience working alongside our care team while preparing to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Complete the program successfully, pass your certification exam, and your pay and employment status will be upgraded accordingly.

Your Path to Becoming a CNA

Our paid Nurse Aide Trainee Program is designed to give you the education, experience, and support you need to begin your nursing career.

Week 1 & 2 – Classroom Training

Learn the fundamentals of resident care through classroom instruction.

Week 3 – Clinical Training

Put your knowledge into practice through hands-on clinical training alongside licensed clinicians.

Certification – Take the Next Step

Upon successful completion of the program, you'll become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and your pay and employment status will be upgraded accordingly.

 

Elderwood covers your CNA certification exam fees and required onboarding expenses, including applicable PPD testing and physical examination requirements.

Until your formal training begins, you'll work as a Support Aide under supervision, gaining valuable experience and becoming familiar with the resident care environment.

 

Program Schedule: Three weeks, Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Training hours may vary based on program and facility needs.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do as a Support Aide

While working toward your CNA certification, you'll provide important support to our residents and clinical team under appropriate supervision.

• Transport residents or accompany ambulatory residents throughout the facility, including to dining, activities, therapy, and treatment areas
• Make unoccupied resident beds as assigned
• Assist with dining services, including passing trays, cutting food, and opening containers
• Distribute supplemental nourishment to residents who do not require feeding assistance
• Provide fresh water to resident rooms as directed
• Prepare resident beds and bed linens for the evening and overnight hours
• Help keep assigned nursing units neat, clean, and orderly
• Clean resident equipment such as wheelchairs, geri chairs, and beds as assigned
• Help maintain orderly resident rooms
• Participate in appropriate informal activities on the nursing unit when time permits
• Observe residents and promptly report unusual incidents or concerns to the appropriate clinical staff
• Treat residents with dignity, kindness, and respect
• Follow all applicable safety, infection control, confidentiality, and compliance policies

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Employment Certificate/Permit required for individuals ages 16–17
• No findings or convictions related to resident abuse, mistreatment, or misappropriation of property through any current or previous licensing agency
• Ability to successfully complete the Nurse Aide Trainee Program and required certification process
• This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
