Responsibilities

Clinical RN – Pain Management (Part-Time) 

 

Position Status: .3 fte (24 hours per pay period)

Department:  Clinic and Imaging

Salary Range: $36.39 - $47.08/per hour (based on experience)

 

This position will provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient pain management and imaging-guided procedures. Responsibilities include pre-procedure assessment, patient preparation, IV therapy, procedural support, physiologic monitoring, recovery care, patient education, and discharge planning. Works collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the procedural experience.

 

  • Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform comprehensive pre-procedure patient assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergy verification, and contraindication screening.
    • Prepare patients for pain management and imaging-guided procedures by providing education, answering questions, and obtaining/confirming required documentation and consents.
    • Initiate and maintain intravenous (IV) access and administer medications as ordered and within scope of practice.
    • Monitor and document vital signs, patient status, and response to treatment before, during, and after procedures.
    • Assist physicians during pain management and imaging-guided procedures by preparing equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
    • Ensure adherence to established protocols, infection prevention standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, complications, or emergency situations.
    • Provide post-procedure recovery care, including ongoing assessment, pain management, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
    • Deliver patient and family education regarding procedure expectations, recovery instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
    • Complete discharge assessments and provide written and verbal discharge instructions to patients and caregivers.
    • Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, education, and outcomes in the electronic health record.
    • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, imaging staff, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
    • Maintain clinical competencies related to procedural nursing, IV therapy, patient monitoring, and emergency response.
    • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and department performance initiatives.
    • Ensure proper preparation, maintenance, and stocking of procedural and recovery areas, equipment, and supplies.

Qualifications

Minimum(s): 

  • Current State of Minnesota RN license is required. 
  • Current American Heart BLS certification is required. If not currently certified, training will be provided and certification must be obtained within 4 months of date of hire. 
  • Current American Heart ACLS certification is required. If not ACLS certified, we will train within the first year. 

 

Preferred(s): 

  • 2+ years experience working in a Clinical Outpatient Procedure setting.
