About this role

About Quilt Health

Quilt Health is dedicated to accelerating the delivery of life-changing treatments for rare and complex medical conditions, with an initial focus on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and classical hematology. While we are witnessing a historic surge in biopharmaceutical breakthroughs capable of reshaping patient outcomes, the actual pathways to accessing these innovations remain disjointed, slow, and fundamentally unequal.

We are bridging this gap by developing a comprehensive infrastructure of software and specialized services that align patients, healthcare providers, community organizations, and industry partners. By serving as an operational catalyst, our platform optimizes clinical workflows and research initiatives, facilitates therapy access, and removes the systemic hurdles that often prevent scientific advancements from reaching the people who need them most.

Role Overview

Quilt Health is seeking a startup-minded Registered Nurse (RN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to serve as our primary Clinical Subject Matter Expert (SME)and operations lead. Sitting at the critical intersection of digital product development, health system data collection, and patient/caregiver experience, you will report directly to the CEO and act as the clinical engine guiding our product team and the development of our patient and clinician support operations.

In this role, you will ensure our consumer-facing intake workflows, clinical data curation models, clinician- and consumer- facing content and care team interactions are grounded in real-world clinical culture, practice and norms. You will bridge the gap between healthcare delivery and fast-moving software engineering—translating complex clinical nuances into structured data requirements, intuitive patient onboarding journeys, actionable product feedback and exceptional patient and clinician experiences and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Product & Data Strategy: Partner closely with Product and Engineering to inform clinical data collection, clinical workflow logic, and electronic health record (EHR) standards consistent with common practices.
  • Care Team & Patient Experience: Serve as the company’s first point of support and interaction for users onboarding during initial pilots. Create and then hire for the company’s ‘Health Guide’ patient support role. Map, design, and refine patient workflows to ensure intake and care navigation processes feel seamless
  • Content Development and Support: Inform content development for marketing and product, working with marketing to develop and review content for patients, caregivers, clinicians and health systems.
  • Clinical Intake Protocols: Develop standardized clinical screening guardrails, intake decision trees, and escalation pathways for complex care navigation while meeting rigorous clinical and regulatory safety standards.
  • Data Curation & Quality: Ensure captured patient and health system data is structured accurately to support research, clinical trials, and health system integration goals.

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered RN or NP license in Massachusetts (or eligible for licensure).
  • 3+ years of clinical experience in triage, patient intake, care navigation, or complex chronic disease management (hematology/Sickle Cell Disease experience is a major plus) with hands on patient facing experience required
  • 1+ years of experience working inside a digital health startup, healthtech innovation lab, or software product team.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with software engineers and product managers, translating clinical realities into technical user stories and data workflows.
