POSITION SUMMARY
The CWI Welder position is responsible for manufacturing parts and components in accordance to customer drawings and specifications within the welding area.  The position requires compliance with AWS and customer standards.  The position includes the setup, operation, and maintenance of welding equipment including welding machines, spot welder, and robot welder.

Essential Functions Statements

  • Knowledge and hands-on operation of welding equipment and methodology.
  • Knowledge and hands-on operation of metal fabrication machinery, especially welding equipment.
  • Setup fixturing and work areas to produce "0 defect" parts.
  • Operate manual and power tools to grind parts according to specification.
  • Participate in internal and external audits in the welding area.
  • Develop work instructions and welding procedures.
  • Enforce AWS and customer standards within the welding area.
  • Perform periodic internal audits in welding area to assure compliance.
  • Perform weld tests with prospective welding candidates to assure they satisfy standards.
  • Provide OJT training for current and new employees.
  • Verify current and new parts are welded in compliance with current welding processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain PQRs and WPS forms.
  • Inspect welding machines and welds to assure conformance to standards.
  • Assist Project Management to assure customer specific requirements are implemented and maintained.
  • Assist in developing new processes and procedures to assure parts adhere to AWS and customer standards.
  • Attend regular meetings with Project Management and applicable departments.
  • Develop new processes and procedures to assure parts adhere to AWS and customer standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools as required/requested.
  • Work a regular schedule determined by supervisory management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:     

  • High School Degree or equivalent and/or related experience required.
  • Associates Degree from an accredited welding program preferred. 

 

Experience:    

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a welding position required.
  • CWI certification required.
  • Ability to read blueprints/drawings.
  • AWS certification or ability to obtain AWS certification preferred.
  • GMWA welding skills including the setup of weld stations.
  • Ability to use Direct read measuring devices required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.
  • Familiarity with WPS weld procedure specifications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
