Cardiovascular Medicine Physician

Department:

Medicine | IM Cardiovascular Medicine

Physician specializing in cardiology to serve as a member of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine; directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings; conducts ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtains and reviews medical history of patients; performs physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs; performs relevant cardiology procedures; orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or medications required; documents all services and instructions provided in medical record; educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families; directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities; serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of cardiology; ensures continuing medical education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.

Minimum Education Required
Doctorate (Professional) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in internal medicine


Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship training program in cardiology required; current or interim permit to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board required; board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Internal Medicine required; active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required.
