The CAD Engineer is responsible for programming, operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting 5-axis CNC machining processes for casting die manufacturing, die repair, and precision component production. This role requires strong expertise in CAD/CAM software such as Tebis and Mastercam for CNC programming, toolpath generation, machining simulation, and process optimization. The engineer will collaborate closely with the Die Design, Metrology, and Maintenance teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective machining operations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Machining

  • Develop CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software like Tebis, Master CAM & equivalent software.
  • Generate and optimize tool paths for milling, drilling, boring, and finishing operations.
  • Create machining strategies for die inserts, punch blocks, trim steels, and die components.
  • Perform machining simulations and validate programs before release to production.
  • Optimize cycle times while maintaining required quality standards.

Die Manufacturing & Repair

  • Support new die manufacturing and die modification activities.
  • Program and machine replacement die components during maintenance and engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with Die Design Engineers to improve the manufacturability of die components.
  • Support die tryout and troubleshooting activities.

Process Optimization

  • Analyze machining performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize cutting parameters, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds.
  • Reduce machining costs, setup times, and tool consumption.
  • Develop standardized machining procedures and best practices.

Quality & Inspection

  • Ensure machine components meet drawing and GD&T requirements.
  • Coordinate with Metrology team for dimensional validation.
  • Review inspection reports and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain machining documentation and revision contro

Equipment & Technology Support

  • Support CNC machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance requirements with maintenance teams.
  • Recommend new tooling, fixtures, and machining technologies.
  • Support implementation of Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and manufacturing standards.
    Participate in risk assessments and process audits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in stamping die manufacturing, die repair, or precision machining environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software such as Tebis and Mastercam for CNC programming and toolpath generation.
  • Strong knowledge of 5-axis CNC machining processes, machining strategies, and process optimization.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
