Job Description

Procurement Specialist / Buyer in a few Words

Averna is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Procurement Specialist / Buyer to join our Global Supply Chain organization in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Reporting directly to the Global Supply Chain Manager, you will be part of Averna’s Global Resource Center and collaborate with project teams and supply chain colleagues across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

In this role, you will independently manage the complete procurement cycle for customer projects—from understanding technical and commercial requirements to supplier identification, RFQs, quotation analysis, negotiation, purchase order placement, follow-up delivery and supplier performance.

This position requires more than operational purchasing. We are looking for someone who can think strategically, identify risks, challenge supplier proposals, recommend sourcing solutions and contribute to cost, quality and delivery objectives.

The successful candidate will be proactive, flexible, communicative and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude who enjoys collaborating, solving problems and contributing to a dynamic global team.

Your Contribution in This Role:

  • Manage the complete procurement cycle for assigned customer projects.
  • Review purchasing lists, bills of material and project requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate and qualify potential suppliers.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs and analyze supplier quotations.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, Incoterms and other commercial conditions.
  • Place purchase orders and ensure their accuracy and timely execution.
  • Follow up proactively with suppliers regarding order acknowledgements, production status and delivery commitments.
  • Identify supply-chain risks, long-lead-time components and potential shortages.
  • Develop mitigation plans and alternative source solutions when required.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering to ensure alignment with project cost, quality and schedule requirements.
  • Support cost-reduction, supplier-consolidation and sourcing initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate procurement information and committed delivery dates in the ERP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness and commercial competitiveness.
  • Support supplier reviews, KPIs and continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate with Logistics and Trade Compliance when international transportation, importation or exportation support is required.
  • Collaborate with Averna’s global procurement teams and support projects across different regions when needed.
  • Manage several projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining a strong level of service.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant procurement or purchasing experience.
  • Experience in an industrial, engineering, electronics, automation, manufacturing or project-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with supplier sourcing, quotation analysis and commercial negotiation.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical ability and sound commercial judgment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and supplier-management skills.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proactive, resourceful and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability and attention to detail.
  • Strategic mindset combined with the ability to manage daily operational activities.
  • Comfortable working independently while remaining highly collaborative.
  • Positive, dynamic and team-oriented personality.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with colleagues and suppliers from different cultures and regions.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
